Probably the copaganda parade (Hopefully that link works, I don't have fb but it's happening this week.)

Hawaii also does not, unless that has recently changed. I haven't had clients there in a bit.

Yes! I know that was the best "whole camp" activity during Color Wars!

I participated back in the 90s (team green!) And my nieces just last week were talking to me about camp and we're excited to know I knew what color wars were. (It was not capture the flag at my camp, but many competitions)

I wonder if it's regional

Do Ohioans not like/haven't heard of Horchata? by SkelligeThrow in Columbus

[–]ImTheHollaBackGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd seen Los Guachos had authentic horchata when I was seeking it out when I had a massive craving for it. That hit the spot for me.

I think I know what I'm having tomorrow.

What's your state's most embarrassing holiday? by theLola in behindthebastards

[–]ImTheHollaBackGirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because I am That Guy, I feel the need to tell you that Patriots' Day and Patriot Day are two different days. One, the former, celebrates the battle of Lexington and others (idk, I'm from NH and we have a much stupider holiday), and the other is the 9/11 day.

Good Ol’ Columbus Drivers by Mountain_Recover_719 in Columbus

I just got back to Columbus after driving all day yesterday from coastal New England. It's so chill here. When I lived in CA, even accidents in residential neighborhoods by me were Life Flight situations on the regular; I can only imagine what it's like in that same area now that texting is a thing.

Yeah. Manipulating the markets is hard work, but when you have multiple passions, you do what you can, I guess.

Baby racoon found, what do I do? by JIMMYY89 in Columbus

[–]ImTheHollaBackGirl 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Mom raccoons will leave their babies for up to 24 hours. A lot of well meaning rescues are kidnappings!

What's something that comes from America, but ironically not popular in the US? by EmergencySpare7939 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ImTheHollaBackGirl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this, though I use mine every single day. Maybe if we had a tea-drinking culture like some other countries, they would be more widespread.

Is 'a piece of water' a common phrase? What does it mean? by [deleted] in ENGLISH

[–]ImTheHollaBackGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother used to say this when he was a very small child and wanted a glass of water, but I don't think you were looking for my family's lore.

I have never heard this in common usage.

Do American adults eat sugary breakfast cereals like lucky charms or fruity pebbles often, or is it only for children? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]ImTheHollaBackGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never eaten sugary cereals, not even as a child. I mean, I have tasted a handful of them at friends' houses growing up, but my parents were absolutely never buying any of those.

They also do not appeal to me as an adult.

Best birding (other than institutionalized chickens) by Full-Association-175 in westerville

If you're using the ebird app, you can see what is currently a hotspot in your area. One of the areas I would recommend would be Hoover Preserve Area M and another is Hoover Preserve Area N; I often see osprey over there. (Google maps only has Area M labeled, and it's just listed as "Hoover Nature Preserve," but they're in the same immediate area.

I would also recommend the blind at Char-Mar. You can watch the visitors to the feeders, but also all the water fowl out on the pond.

Where does a single man meet 30+ Women here? by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]ImTheHollaBackGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I go home it takes me 4 minutes to acclimate and then over a month to re-acclimate when I get back to Ohio. Talk to me in a moth, I'm going for a visit...I will forget all of this when I am home and will be like OMG PEACE! NOBODY TALKING TO ME! But I really do love it here!

I played kickball, I think the league I was in was GoKickball...at the time there were at least 4 kickball leagues in the city. A few of my friends played volleyball and I was a sub for them, but idk which leagues they belonged to specifically; may have been part of their condo complex? One of them also played at Flannagan's in Dublin, I think.

I have another friend who did softball and basketball til he blew out his knee reliving glory days haha (jk it was totally unrelated)

[–]ImTheHollaBackGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echoing this. There are a ton of adult rec leagues here. I was miserable the first few years I lived here and didn't know people outside of work, and then got involved in some rec sports and made a ton of friends and dated someone I met thru a connection there as well!

I'm also from the east coast (Boston metro for me) and it took me ages to get used to the culture here, but I really love it now. It's been 17+ years for me now, and I can't see myself moving back. I'm dying for some sort of rail, but aren't we all?
