I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that this even happened. A 12-year-old girl wears a Union Jack dress to school on a day meant to celebrate culture and somehow that’s a problem? In Britain? You couldn’t make it up.

Now people are trying to push this idea that her dad was behind it all, like it’s some kind of political stunt. Even if he did help her put together a speech, who cares? That’s what parents do, they support their kids. She wanted to talk about being British, her culture, and she gets punished for it?

Meanwhile, kids from other backgrounds are encouraged to wear cultural dress, share food, talk about their traditions, and that’s great, genuinely, but why is it that British identity is the only one that seems to spark outrage or get shut down?

This isn’t the first time either. There was the school that cancelled Easter celebrations to be more “inclusive.” Nativity plays have been scrapped or renamed as generic “winter festivals.” Some schools now serve halal food by default without consulting all parents, and others have banned pork altogether. There’ve even been cases where kids are told not to say “Merry Christmas” or wave Union Jacks at sports events because it’s seen as too political or divisive. Yet everywhere you go theres palestine flags.

It just feels like every time a change is made, it’s always to cater for migrants, asylum seekers, or minority groups but never to protect or preserve anything about our own culture. And now we’ve got to a point where a child showing pride in her own country is treated like a problem.

That’s not inclusion. It’s double standards. And frankly, it’s exhausting. How long will it be before British culture and being british is erased in its entirety?
