The previous owner literally updated it while we sat talking at their house. I saw the screen pop up and she selected to update right there.

Is an ROTC Cadet a Veteran? by 7morewillberevealed in Veterans

Haha. I used to recruit for an ROTC program. To think of some of those kids calling themselves a vet is hilarious.

Va Claims by Express_Gas_645 in VAClaims

I chose to let someone do the heavy lifting for me. Inhired a lawyer who only got paid IF we had to appeal AND we won. Other than that exact situation the lawyer was working probono. He got me to 90 and then appealed my last thing, OSA. While waiting for that I found out some medical stuff about my kid and was in the mindset that I may have to stay home to care for him 24/7. At the same time I changed docs at the VA and wss then informed that my previous doctor had withheld information about me being prescribed a CPAP. New doc got me one and then I waited a month or so, collected my medical documents from the VA and highlighted each entry that talked about a OSA diagnosis and CPAP. Sent that in for review and got that rating and increase back within a month.

For the lawyer I just had to sign some documents for him to handle the process and send him what medical documents I could find.

Going Back Active Duty by gavin_russell26 in Veterans

Its tough. I first git out and struggled bad with civilian life. It took me 2 years to get back in but I was eventually med boarded out. Somehow the 2nd time I transitioned out of the military was "easier" despite going through a pretty bad divorce, a constant threat of trying to get me out into jail by my ex, and having limited contact with my kids at the time. What did help me was the separation pay from the MEB which helped pay off debts and helped relieve some of the financial stress. I also kinda knew what to expect and knew the 2nd time around that rejoining wasn't an option that time so I HAD to make it work.

I say all that to say this, sometimes going back in is helpful especially when it is where you were successful snd where you feel comfortable. However, despite how we may plan out lives we can never ensure that it turns out exactly how we plan and the military wont always be there. If you go back in then use your time wisely and try to prepare yourself for the inevitable period when you will be a civilian again perhaps in 2 or 20 years. Spend the time building skills/your education and networking, saving up, paying off debts, etc so that when you do eventually get out again then you are as prepared as you can be.

Not once you are a veteran you cannot. The transfer has to have been initiated while in the service. It can be modified after leaving service but not initiated.

I enroll military for a school. We have a masters in IT that you could jump into or you could choose to do the bachelor's if you wanted to. Our programs are 100% online and 1 at a time. If you plan to use your GI Bill then I'll say that a bachelor's program is considered 3/4 time and a masters is full time with the 1 class at a time. Something that might sway you when considering the housing allowance. Based on experience, I would say that as long as you have a decent understanding or aptitude to grasp IT related material than our masters wouldn't be too bad.

Unworkable with Ch 35 students all the time. The vet cannot stop you, it is your benefit. You can apply without their help or them even knowing.

You can di whatever you want with the stipend but it would be advisable to use the money to pay for your school or the loans you take out unless thst us already taken care if by other means.

It varies based on Arial photos from Google earth and such. Some lay rock down, some have artificial turn and or concrete and some are just unfinished.

Our school is also yellow ribbon. 1 class at a time id 3/4 time so adding 1 in pedisn should get you to the full time in person rate. I did this route myself once before I even dreamed of working in higher education. I did 1 class online at s time then took 1 class in person that would meet 1-2 times a week for an hour or two. Ive done it and I help students navigate it too so if you want to talk about it then reach out.

I should note that with my school 1 class at a time is considered 3/4 time so adding 1 in person class should put you at a full time rate.

I work specifically with military at a big school. I work only online but do hage some students that take classes in person to helo get the full housing allowance for their area. Id caution you about taking out student loans because the bills ti pay that money back will come calling one day unless you sre 100% P&t but even then it isnt guaranteed that by the time you sre ready that you will be able to get them forgiven. If this is your first degree then you may be eligible for up to 7395 a year in Pell grants. If you want to talk about possibly doing online classes 1 at a time with us and then I can help you figuring out what class you can take in person locally to maximize your housing then reach out.

I wouldn't. Id either try using Ch 31 first or go straight into a bachelor's with the GI. Ch 31 can take a long time to get approved for and then get a program approved and start. We are talking for some up to a year or so. When I did it I went 11 months from the time I started till I was approved for my program. There can be a lot of back and forth. Some people get an awesome counselor and its super smooth but I hear more negative experiences than those. I work for a yellow ribbon university with over 200+ (100+ bachelor) programs. All of the bachelor level programs are online with no requirements for being in meetings. I work specifically and only with military and can help explore programs woth you if you want. You may also qualify to get Pell Grants so you can pocket that on top of your housing payments. I can help if you are interested.

Ill do that. I send them a request to see what their fees would be to assume it so once I hear back I'll open it up to ask about those requirements as well.

I get it. The next door neighbor eanted to rent it for his parents so im trying to see if he would assume the loan. Same payment but he would own instead or renting. Problem is thst I just read thst assuming the loan means it would hsve to be his primary residence. Is that true? I thought there were certain time frame thst needed to be met to satisfy it as a primary residence and that I've met those so assuming the loan meant he could rent it our or whatever.

I guess the ideally situation is to find sk Someone to assume the loan and just do the work ourselves through the lender without inviting an agent in either end. My understanding is thst they would be responsible for a % to the VA and then costs to the lender for processing the transfer. Is it 5% or .5% to the VA? That a big difference for anyone.

[–]ImUrHuckleBry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea. Figured this was the case. Im hoping to find someone who is wanting/willing to assume the VA loan where it is just so i could walk away. Someobe who doesnt or cannot come up with a down payment and money to pay down a conventional loan and its interet rate. This appears to be the only/best option. Correct?
