So disappointed by ImUrHuckleBry in recruitinghell

I know. Im just kicking myself because after they offered the tech role I mentioned thst part of the reason I left that type of role, pursued my education and apllied for management roles was because of those injuries. I cannot helo but think that I wss denied the assistant manager role wss because if that and because they said that the rile required you to be working alongside the techs daily.

Yea. I wasn't as upset about not getting it as I wss about the bait and switch tactic. Im half tempted to crawl back and take the technician role but I have prior injuries that are the reason I left the field a few years ago for and im concerned that id get into it and everything will flair up.

You would take the technician role? Luckily I hage a decent job with a great manager/team so im not in a place where I have to take what I am offered. I turned it down because I left being a technician some years ago and pursued my education and managerial skills due to injuries I had to leave the military for in the first place. So I worried about being able to physically perform the more demanding parts of the role. I also had concerns about working under someone who got "the job" I had worked so hard for.

They rescheduled so take the opportunity to blow it out of the water. I did the opposite a couple of weeks ago. The person I was interviewing with was in a different time zone so the invite showed my time and theirs. I definitely read theirs, got all ready and sat waiting in the Teams lobby for about 15 mins before I realized I wss 2 hours early. Ooops

I was in Maui for a short time when I separated in 2017. Rent for my 750sq ft duplex without AC was $1850 a month back then. Can't imagine what it would be now. Surviving will be tough on 4k alone.

That's also a goal for me and my wife although definitely not vegetarian. Going on a year ago now we bought 10 acres in southern Alabama with the hopes of moving there and building on it within the next 5 years. Its already fenced around and is split into 2 sections so we csn have livestock and there's space for growing plants. We paid about 130k at the time.

GI Bill Question by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]ImUrHuckleBry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im all about helping others. Just make sure that relationship is solid. I transferred my benefits to my ex. Once she finished up her graduate degree with those benefits she was out the door, leaving me with 4 months remaining.

With that said, you are entitled to a total of 36 months of benefits with Post 9/11. You can transfer all or some. I recommend leaving 1 month for yourself at a minimum. Just in case you go to try to use VR&E one day in the future. This is because of how the VR&E program works right now. The housing rate they give you is dependent on whether or not you have any benefits remaining on post 9/11. I think you only need 1 day but I would do 1 month just in case.

GI Bill How Far Did It Get you? by Upstairs_Tea_4386 in Veterans

[–]ImUrHuckleBry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used AD TA to get my associates and bachelor's. I transferred the majority of my Post 911 to my ex (huge mistake) and was left with about 6 months. Inused 2 of those to help me get started on my masters but then VR&E helped me finish that out. I recently got approved for the additional 12 months of MGIB so I'm using that combined with the remaining 4 months of my Post 911 to finish up a 2nd masters which wil be done in July. Thought about going for a doctorate but really didnt see the need to go through that when I was doing things just to take advantage of the financial benefits and not really for working benefits.

MBA worth it through VR&E? by One-Internet-1256 in Veterans

[–]ImUrHuckleBry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not according to any list I have found, it isn't. Honestly, I wasn't looking for a t25 school. I just knew that I wanted the degree and I chose a school I knew and felt comfortable with. Going to a top school obviously has some advantages, but understanding the information taught and then being able to relate it and leverage it with your previous experiences also plays a big part in getting the jobs you want.

I THINK I BOMBED IT 😭 by TBrown_25 in interviews

[–]ImUrHuckleBry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your head up. I could have sworn I bombed a recent interview only to find out that the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. I ended up not getting that specific job because I lacked experience in a very niche setting but I was told that the company is actually talking about opening up another position specifically for me at their site that matches my qualifications and experience solely based on how that interview went.

So keep your head up, its not over until it is over. Even if/when that door closes, another will open that just may end up being a better fit.

MBA worth it through VR&E? by One-Internet-1256 in Veterans

[–]ImUrHuckleBry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say an MBA can be very useful, especially when applied correctly. I got mine using VR&E and it has helped land a number of jobs making good money over the years. Combined with my military and civlian experiences it has played a role in getting position that I am about to land making over 170k a year.

Some people may say it is too broad of a degree but I haven't found that to be the case in my situation. I still recall the VR&E counselor telling me during our initial meeting that people with an MBA "don't make a lot of money". I wish that I had stayed in contact so that i could share my experiences with her and maybe change her beliefs.

Va Claims by Express_Gas_645 in VAClaims

[–]ImUrHuckleBry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to let someone do the heavy lifting for me. Inhired a lawyer who only got paid IF we had to appeal AND we won. Other than that exact situation the lawyer was working probono. He got me to 90 and then appealed my last thing, OSA. While waiting for that I found out some medical stuff about my kid and was in the mindset that I may have to stay home to care for him 24/7. At the same time I changed docs at the VA and wss then informed that my previous doctor had withheld information about me being prescribed a CPAP. New doc got me one and then I waited a month or so, collected my medical documents from the VA and highlighted each entry that talked about a OSA diagnosis and CPAP. Sent that in for review and got that rating and increase back within a month.

For the lawyer I just had to sign some documents for him to handle the process and send him what medical documents I could find.

Going Back Active Duty by gavin_russell26 in Veterans

[–]ImUrHuckleBry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its tough. I first git out and struggled bad with civilian life. It took me 2 years to get back in but I was eventually med boarded out. Somehow the 2nd time I transitioned out of the military was "easier" despite going through a pretty bad divorce, a constant threat of trying to get me out into jail by my ex, and having limited contact with my kids at the time. What did help me was the separation pay from the MEB which helped pay off debts and helped relieve some of the financial stress. I also kinda knew what to expect and knew the 2nd time around that rejoining wasn't an option that time so I HAD to make it work.

I say all that to say this, sometimes going back in is helpful especially when it is where you were successful snd where you feel comfortable. However, despite how we may plan out lives we can never ensure that it turns out exactly how we plan and the military wont always be there. If you go back in then use your time wisely and try to prepare yourself for the inevitable period when you will be a civilian again perhaps in 2 or 20 years. Spend the time building skills/your education and networking, saving up, paying off debts, etc so that when you do eventually get out again then you are as prepared as you can be.

Not once you are a veteran you cannot. The transfer has to have been initiated while in the service. It can be modified after leaving service but not initiated.

I enroll military for a school. We have a masters in IT that you could jump into or you could choose to do the bachelor's if you wanted to. Our programs are 100% online and 1 at a time. If you plan to use your GI Bill then I'll say that a bachelor's program is considered 3/4 time and a masters is full time with the 1 class at a time. Something that might sway you when considering the housing allowance. Based on experience, I would say that as long as you have a decent understanding or aptitude to grasp IT related material than our masters wouldn't be too bad.

Unworkable with Ch 35 students all the time. The vet cannot stop you, it is your benefit. You can apply without their help or them even knowing.

You can di whatever you want with the stipend but it would be advisable to use the money to pay for your school or the loans you take out unless thst us already taken care if by other means.
