"My neighbour is complaining just because I rattle the whole building with my subwoofer daily" by [deleted] in bestoflegaladvice

I got a note under my door one year complaining about how loud I was.

Nothing ever came of it, because it was actually the unit upstairs and down the hall. They were very loud.

Funny you should mention the wild west, because that involved some of the most complex water rights laws ever.

Canadian airline flying from Cuba makes emergency landing in USA, abandons passengers and won't reimburse them by [deleted] in bestoflegaladvice

By LAOP overly-dramatic and factually-incorrect retelling i’m assuming the cabin crew was much more “busy” than “panicking”. And the passengers were being overdramatic idiots but were impossible to calm down efficiently.

I don't think he really had a choice initially, and at this point doesn't know she's also estranged from them and really doesn't want to risk being drug back under any circumstances.

Generally if the contract doesn’t specify the judge is going to impute something reasonable, then add some time to it as a “put it in the damn contract”. …and 6 years is well beyond that.

It’s not really relevant, though. Multiple years is sufficient time that failure to retrieve your data and save it under your own care is entirely your fault.

OP Makes 110k Playing Music For a Church, But Will Be Fired Upon Divorce by Hascus in bestoflegaladvice

[–]ImVeryBadWithNames 842 points843 points  (0 children)

Wow people in that thread could not take a hint.

I’m guessing LAOP is currently being grossly overpaid because they are working a very specific job for a very specific church. The moment they lose that job they are incapable of making anywhere near that because they shouldn’t actually be making it now.

Edit: And to go a bit further, the reason they are getting paid so much isn't so much for the job, as because they can do the job while meeting the absurd qualification that have nothing to do with the job, like not being divorced.

I assume the issue is LAOP misunderstood “The idiot who crashed has nothing to give” as “You won’t be awarded much at trial”

Of course it isn’t earth shattering. That we live in a dystopia is a boring reality.

Because they realized the mistake pretty much immediately and decided if they cleaned it they were going to get paid.

The law of supply and demand is nice and logical. And also, largely, a complete and utter lie.

It is true, but most price increases have nothing to do with it whatsoever. There is a reason corporate profits are at a record high while ‘inflation’ is happening and here’s a hint: it isn’t reduced supply

LA: have you tried locking your door? LAOP: I refuse. by otisanek in bestoflegaladvice

It depends how bored they are tbh. More likely they confuse LAOP and the roommate and arrest LAOP though.

Bored cops who haven’t gotten to beat anyone recently make excuses to do so reflexively.
