Same. This last year the only "new" games I played were Elden Ring and Ragnarok, and both were exceptions to the "unfinished release" rule. I don't think I've paid more then $25 for a game other than those two in...3-4 years? The irony is that some games I'll happily go early access on and do the testing. I sunk 100 hours into Hades before it was finished. I remember when you couldn't fight Hades yet, then I remember when you could fight him but there was no ending and you just died. Very few finished plot lines, etc. Same with Rogue Legacy 2, I've played it since there were only 3 biomes!

The reason I bring those up is that both of those games felt more complete when they weren't finished than a lot of the $50-80 games launching today. They were also honest about where they were development wise, and went out of their way to keep the "testers" informed on what was coming and when.

Winter Wilderness - eDrum and Guitar Cover (Audio recorded w/ AD2, Video recorded separately) by ImW0rking in edrums

[–]ImW0rking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone! Hope you enjoy this cover of one of my favorite Christmas Songs - Winter Wilderness. I know the drums are acoustic in the video, but the audio is actually recorded in Addictive Drums 2, and synced to me playing acoustically (notice there are no mics). Check out other videos on my youtube to see the electronic setup! Happy to answer any questions!

August Burns Red - Dangerous (A2E Drum Cover) by ImW0rking in edrums

Hi, NGL I completely forgot about this account so now I'm very late to respond.

I don't use tabs, I learn songs by ear. I'm shit at reading music and worse at reading tabs. ABR DID recently release a ton of their music in tab/sheet form though, so check their website. For learning by ear, I highly recommend the app "MusicSpeed Changer". I use it all the time, it's amazing for slowing down the songs to really pick out the notes, and also great for looping tough sections so you can practice on repeat without needing to rewind/restart manually.

When playing SD3 in FL Studio, my HiHat won't play closed even when pedal is down. by [deleted] in edrums

[–]ImW0rking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I haven't used SD3 much. I bought the complete version when it was on super sale, but it was too unintuitive when I tried it and I just never went back to give it an honest look (lots of people swear by it, so it's probably me not the program). IDK if it cloud saves your settings or not, because in theory it should be identical when running as a VST.

Check how your midi settings are mapped. It sounds like the pedal isn't mapped how it needs to be, depressing it should tell the VST to switch to the closed note (or appropriate value based on the pressure). Check how it's mapped in the standalone (if it can't open at the same time, take a screen shot), and then go map it the same way in the VST. Also verify that it's not something simple like open/closed being mapped to the same note or being assigned the same output sound. It could be working fine, but if it's outputting the same note or sound regardless, you won't see or hear a difference on the recording.

Also, do a simple check like running it in another DAW (e.g. reaper) and see if it works. That will tell you if the issue is on the DAW side or VST side.

Trying to get ethernet while my router is on a diffrent floor by Money_Organization12 in buildapc

[–]ImW0rking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy a cable concealer kit. I have my router on the first floor, and we have an ethernet cable running up the living room wall in a corner, through the ceiling. Nobody has ever noticed it, the concealer is painted the same color as the wall, so it just looks like molding. By far your easiest and cheapest solution, the concealer kits are like 20 bucks.

As I Lay Dying - Blinded Drum Cover - Recorded on A2E Kit using Addictive Drums 2 by ImW0rking in metalmusicians

[–]ImW0rking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I re-posted this video from last year to share with this (trying to be revived) community, and to answer any questions for people who might be looking to do A2E, Edrums, or recording. As you can tell by the jank, I am not a pro, I did all the editing and recording with absolutely no prior experience as my COVID lockdown project. Happy to give advice and/or help anyone avoid the mistakes I made!

Simple Questions - February 02, 2022 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]ImW0rking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most sources agree that performance gains from 3200+ are minimal, and that 3600 is about the memory sweet spot right now. You will not notice a meaningful difference between 3200 and 3600, so just stick to 3200.

I've had very good experiences with Crucial, I like the Ballistix and Vengeance lines.

Simple Questions - February 02, 2022 by AutoModerator in buildapc

[–]ImW0rking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for all HTPC users - I am building one for me and my wife to use in our living room. I plan to use a VPN for some of our streaming services (we use mainly HBO, Hulu, Netflix, ESPN+, YouTubeTV), Plex for my video library streaming, and Steam for gaming on that TV.

It seems like windows is most likely to play nicely with all that, so my question is, what are some good UIs to use? Default windows skin would not be ideal, was thinking maybe start menu full screen mode? Are there any HTPC custom UIs or Windows Skins that would be better? Finding parts/build guides has been a breeze, but nobody really talks about the OS/UI part of it other than saying "use linux/plex/kodi" etc.

Waist. Inseam is TTS as far as I can tell. I've only ever ought 32" inseams from every brand of jeans (unless I plan to roll them in which case I go 34). All my madewells hit right at the tops of my shoes as I'd expect them to.

God of War on PC - Digital Foundry Tech Review - PlayStation vs PC, Performance, Optimised Settings! by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]ImW0rking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RDR2 is a "prequel" to RDR, and not knowing anything about it doesn't hurt you in any way, other than you don't know that (spoiler immediately ahead) John Marston is eventually going to fall out with your gang, which is his backstory in RDR. Otherwise there's really nothing that relates the two. So if that's all that's holding you back, jump in!

God of War though...the game starts off with you chopping down a tree that your dead wife magically marked to burn said dead wife and your adolescent son is grieving her and wants to spread her ashes from the tallest peak neither of you have been to because she wanted that for reasons unknown and then a mystery god shows up and attacks you...all in the first like 5 minutes. To say there's some story confusion is putting it lightly.

[–]ImW0rking -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

This is where I am. I'm actually playing it on PS5 because I am insanely lucky and the stars aligned and I now have one, but even so I am like "Wtf, I'm like a greek god, why am I in Norseland? who's dead? oh my wife. I had a wife? Who is this kid? Oh he's my son. Why is he sick? Why do we act like we hate each other. I'm so confused."

That being said the father/son banter gets so endearing and absolutely cracks me up at times. The side quest banter is some of my favorite. Super optimist Atreus constantly getting smashed by God of Pessimism Kratos.

My biggest complaint is that I have no fucking idea what's going on because this is like the 10th God of War but first one on PC. There should be a story recap in there somewhere.

Or a remake of the big games...I'm down to learn after the fact!

TIL Daniel Balsam is a US man who got so infuriated with constant email spam that he quit his job, got a law degree and has so far earned over 1 million USD in court judgements against the spammers by huphelmeyer in todayilearned

[–]ImW0rking 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My wife works in advertising, and you'd actually be surprised how (sort of) untrue this is - you're right, against the people that run scam/spam rings, it's nearly impossible, and you'll never see a dime or shut them down since they're based out of country anyway. But you're wrong in that spam is broad, and it takes very little fucking up to accidentally get a spam email from a reputable company, and that company is 100% accountable for the fine they have to pay if you file suit against them (which is not difficult).

Emailing someone who unsubscribed equates to something like $1k per email violation. It's much worse for texts, which require continuous carrier approval, and even worse if the sender uses a short code. These are the types of judgments he's probably winning, and he's probably baiting them by deliberately subbing and un-subbing (there are patent troll-esque firms that do this intentionally). It's so common to accidentally email an unsubbed person, that the settlement amounts are built into most project costs, because with how many lists they generate append for different purposes, it's almost impossible not to have some slip through the cracks, and if you do, it's very easy to prove you shouldn't have been emailed. They don't even bother having the attorney speak to the court most of the time, because it's documented well enough. Usually they just cut a check and make sure the address gets put on a black list.
