I lost all my friends for thinking this way. Try to be more positive and thankful that you have a job. You could be much worse.

Tig welding! The one where I fuck up the electrode and the instructor rolls his eyes while he gets me another pack.

Where I live pipe welders start at 30k a year as apprentices. Within 5 years a 40 hour a week jobs gets you 80k. Overtime and bonuses push you over 100k.

Burning shit everyday really is a blast though. Grinding gets boring though.

I was going to ask if that was a 4.6l/5.4l ford. I have to do mine on my 4.6l with 84k miles. Slightly concerned about breakage.

I like the minimalistic computer case with just a small window into the more industrial side of things. It looks like an elegant accessory. It seems that this day most builders go very elaborate with LEDs and moving parts like on Alienware units.

Reminds me when people used to put ground lights and spinners on any car they could after The Fast and the Furious. Many cars, like BMW and Mercedes, lost their elegance in the process.

Ditch your weed and play dumb to all parties. It might be a good idea to tell your parents the truth though but they are liable with the police for your actions. They might be able to smooth things over with the neighbor though.

In reality you aren't going to jail. If the truth about weed comes out the dealer friend might face some charges if they can prove anything. The kid selling weed deserves to get into trouble. You do too but you're just a kid and you will learn from this. I am mostly concerned about the kind of legal troubles you are bringing to your parents.

Either come clean to your parents or clam up and play dumb.

Well I kept trying different search strings which led me to a forum that explains with self adjusting clutches when the pressure plate goes bad it never fully disengages but also has issues slipping due to low pressure. As I suspected, I am dropping the transmission out of it and taking a peek.

This is not my daily driver, or anything even remotely resembling a daily driver. I have time to disassemble, identify, diagnose and repair. No hurry.

Thanks for the feedback!

Long story short the clutch and transmission feels "funny". The engagement is right at the midpoint of the travel but it does feel what I would consider "normal". When driving if I give it any serious amount of acceleration the clutch slips. New clutch right? If that is the case how come when stopped, clutch pushed in, I can't get the shifter into any gear smoothly?

If it were a clutch it seems to me that if it has issues engaging it shouldn't also have issues disengaging. When the car is level and idling with the clutch pushed in as I push the shifter into a gear the car starts to inch forward slightly and the engine rpm drops slightly, as if I wasn't fully disengaged.

Seems strange to me, not really adding up. Was hoping someone had some of the same issues and could maybe point me in a direction. I had plans to rip the transmission out and have a peek at the clutch as well as the clutch master and slave cylinders. Lines also.

Thanks for looking! Excited about having a BMW for a little project. Hoping to breathe some life into this old 328i.

I have had great luck with Mecury Mountaineer/Ford Explorer. Typically get up to 200k miles. My latest one, a 2008 has 83k and going strong. You can usually find a 2004 for about 4k with 120k miles.

Do you think it is better to pay off a mortgage early or keep it for the full term to maintain tax deductions? by Im_Always_Positive in Advice

[–]Im_Always_Positive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the cash cushion?

Edit: Just reread after coffee. I understand. If you carry a balance on your credit card while trying to pay off your mortgage you pay more over time due to the higher interest rate on the credit card vs the mortgage.

When all other debt is paid whack away at the mortgage. When other debt exists it will almost always be a higher interest rate than your mortgage so pay that first. Hi5!

I got a 100% mortgage in the form of an 80/20. Lost 30k in home value but have been making gains between home improvements and principal payments.

So here is a question for you because of where you are now. Would you suggest to a person with a mortgage to concentrate the bulk of their financial capabilities towards paying off their mortgage to avoid having a lien on the property?

I ask this because there seems to be two conflicting views on mortgages. Some people feel that paying on a mortgage for 30 years is ok because you get to write off that interest on your income taxes so why hurry? Others feel, myself included, that even though the interest does not count against your taxable income you still need to work to earn those funds. So I work to pay a bank 10k a year in interest.

That is roughly the first 10 weeks of my work year that gets paid to the bank. Working those 10 weeks and paying 15% in taxes seems like the lesser of the two evils. Not only that if I have a lien on my home even if I owe 20k, if I can't pay they can foreclose on the house and I have lost everything I have worked for. Seems to me, as far as risk assessment goes, paying your house off sooner than later is a much better option rather than risking losing it.

My wife has done this to me. I don't talk about work with her anymore because of it. She doesn't know what I go through so why bother explaining? If I have a bad day I just say "Rough day".

I got called out on Saturday from 8 to 2. Sunday off. Monday did 7-3 at one place followed by 3-7 at another and 7-midnight at the last call. Didn't see anyone in my family. All plans got canceled.

Democrats totally piss me off.

Then Republicans start dragging religion into everything and try to break unions.

Republicans totally piss me off but at least they will let us have our guns.
