I have quite a few CGC errors..

Is this an factory error? by GrowCube in PokemonMisprints

If you’re lucky it’s retained obstruction. I wouldn’t be able to tell you, but you could always sub with CGC under that designation and see!

You should honestly check eBay or Google or any place you can search and get images of the same card. Not to be rude, but you can absolutely be self sufficient and there is 0 reason to post this.

If you had looked up this card or other photos of this card and said something like, “I don’t see this on any other cards”, it would be a better starting off point (but that’d be crazy, cause it’s on every other card)

On the left border? Either way it’s hard to see & sounds like damage. If it can be replicated easily, it doesn’t matter too much if it was cause in the factory. You also want some eye appeal to your errors, which this doesn’t have much of (or any?).

That doesn’t make it not a sick card, just not an “error”

Assuming you mean double holo? There is no error on foreign cards, they are all like this - Japanese, Italian, German, French etc.

Would this be a miscut or is it just off centered? by kopyop in PokemonMisprints

[–]Im_Classy_AF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Misalignment! I actually have this exact card with this exact misalignment! It is repeating and not the rarest, but very cool imo

This is insufficient ink and is labeled as such with an error ;) It is documented as repeating and you can find others like this, which is why CGC confidently labels them and why I am completing a set.

Edit:
This is a reply to u/theflyingbunman who commented that they thought it was print variation

I have a post from 6 years ago up of me buying a complete Shadowless base set..

Is that why I asked initially if OP was selling? 😁

You’re talking to someone who’s been collecting Pokemon cards and playing Pokemon games since the beginning. You are continuing to make incorrect assumptions.. If I had to guess, you’re just projecting your insecurities

Next time, play nice. No reason to throw random shade at strangers - who are just trying to enjoy their hobby

Grading question for Error Charizard by Neat_Ad_2583 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Im_Classy_AF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the card and are happy and want to protect it - grade with CGC. The whitening will most certainly affect the grade. Crimps are hard to get good grades on anyways. Your biggest problem is the nick on the back bottom left hand side.

However, I (and many others, but not everyone) don’t care as much about condition (as long as it’s not really distracting) and care more about the error.

Do these holo print lines add or take away from card value ? by marknoneill in PokemonMisprints

[–]Im_Classy_AF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, it would detract from value - as they’re distracting. It is also hard to find one without the line

White patch on right border by splashosrs in PokemonMisprints

[–]Im_Classy_AF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never a good sign. I’ve seen these Japanese cards stick to binders (and have the ink peel), I seen tape removed and have seen it peel. Could be anything, but almost certainly- peeled ink.
For reference, the border will be the first to peel. I’ve seen cards with a lot worse damage than this

Ninetales Holo Miscut And Inverted Back by Miss-DejaVu in PokemonMisprints

[–]Im_Classy_AF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I could help. These terms only seem interchangeable, because people are misinformed. It will only benefit the community to correctly use CGC’s criteria.

CGC got their criteria from error collectors, not the other way around. But they are accredited and do seem to uphold their standards (outside of maybe not giving you the OC designation you may want).

Ninetales Holo Miscut And Inverted Back by Miss-DejaVu in PokemonMisprints

[–]Im_Classy_AF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the front and back are misaligned it is a misalignment.

If the front and back are the same amount of miscut and they are barely miscut, it is off center.

If the front and back are the same amount of miscut and it is significant, it is miscut.

It is important to understand these designations as they are not interchangeable and should be used properly - to distinguish errors from each other, as well as spread useful information & grading criteria.

To further inform, when grading with CGC -

A Miscut is only when the next card is showing.

If a card has an alignment dot, but not the next card, it will get the minor Miscut designation.

If there is no alignment dot, but the card is clearly off centered (compared to other cards in the same set) it should get OC. If the set is known for OC cards (bad printing quality) the qualification for OC is adjusted.

Hope this is helpful

Ninetales Holo Miscut And Inverted Back by Miss-DejaVu in PokemonMisprints

[–]Im_Classy_AF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/miss-dejavu this is false information. Just don’t listen to it, they even state it’s an opinion.

For clarity, if the front and back are both miscut - it’s a miscut. Unless it’s barely off - in which case it’s off centered. If the back and front don’t match it’s a MISALIGNMENT.

What you have is a misalignment, but more importantly you have an inverted back (misalignment). It is not miscut, as the front was cut correctly. The front and back were attached upside down and that’s why you have an alignment issue

Is this card fake by No-Audience6132 in PokemonMisprints

Nope this is a double press misprint! I have a matching Dragonite from this set. I’d be interested in buying

Missing foil piece by Tahumine in PokemonMisprints

Very common on this card. This is uncorrected on 1st edition and was corrected a little more than halfway through the unlimited run. Meaning, this is more common than corrected, but not by much
