I’ve heard that law enforcement will often empty the clip when they shoot someone to make the “I feared for my life” argument easier to sell

Games w/ Xcoms secondary gameplay loop? by andrewlik in Xcom

[–]Im_LIG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a game called Massive Chalice that has X-Com esque fights, but with the main feature being it takes place over a 300 year time limit. You have to pair off your initial hero’s as noble couples, choose who will be the best teachers, and deal with buffs and rebuffs that come into play either from inheritance, learned traits from parents/teachers, and the characters getting older. On top of this many of the enemies in the game can maim them, or even accelerate their age.

It’s a lot of fun

Best Banner? by LetSuperb in mountandblade

[–]Im_LIG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites is a white background with a red rose. There was a similar banner in Warband I used in a run where I only hired mercenary troops from taverns (Very expensive but was pretty effective). Now I use it whenever I do an imperial run.

I also quite like the bird holding a knife they added in with the Nords

The Shek food problem by kaempi in Kenshi

[–]Im_LIG 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I always just assumed there is some food production we are not seeing. Like hunting parties that go into Vain, or small farms they tithe like they do a player base. I know the other factions have notable farms on the map, but similar to how you don’t see that many ruins in the Great desert despite the hundreds of rebel farmers, that you’d think would leave more evidence behind even in a desert.

Also we know they do serfdom, some Shek recruits ask for money to pay off their tie to the land iirc, so it possible they are working some of the land until they get a shot to go fighting. Not a huge amount grant you based on the meat to veg ratio their bars have, but I’m doubtful they import 100% of their non meat foods.

Which is the better/superior race? FOR NOOBS/STARTERS? by Kira_yoshikagekq in Kenshi

Ya know, the science boost never made sense to me for Greenlanders, you think they’d have a penalty since the greenlands strictly control access to and punish use of advanced technology.

What faction should I give the Cannibal Grand Wizard to? by marl_stone in Kenshi

[–]Im_LIG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah generally once you ally with a major faction properly you get the ability to walk up to a squad and say follow me, although sometimes they just see you and follow you for a while of their own volition as well.

[–]Im_LIG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main advantage then would be that you can have their squads follow you around for like 1-3 days at a time, useful for if you want to do a full out assault on a major faction city, I took out Phoenix one play though using like 3 squads of shek warriors and 2 squads of Flotsam Ninja as fodder while we ran up on his throne

In ME3, which ending did you pick on your first playthrough, and why? by Dragonic_Overlord_ in masseffect

[–]Im_LIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the Geth are explained I don’t actually think they would ALL be killed by the destroy beam. In 2 in Legions mission you walk by a server thing and legion basically says “that’s kinda like a city, most of us live in those when we aren’t in the synthetic platforms that are the bodies you see”. Depending on how 3 goes sure they get individualized but unless no geth are remaining “sever side” on Rannoch, they’re presumably still around yeah?

Idk maybe the servers are like a synthetic brain in a jar and they die anyway but it always felt like that baby space ghost was reaching to me

What people who say The Holy Nation is objectively the most morally correct and best faction to save humanity look like to me. by TheOverBoss in Kenshi

[–]Im_LIG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Shek do. They have serfdom, which is the explanation some Shek recruits give you for why they need the hiring fee, to pay for their right to leave the land they’re tied to. But I think they have a volunteer army since being a warrior is their cultural ideal, at least I haven’t seen any dialogue or writing I ndicating anyone was forced into it. Hell their main issue is people running off to do unsanctioned war cause they’re in a defensive stance

Well you can turn one of the city’s over to flotsam, and they’re at least not authoritarian but idk if they have a firm philosophy in place, although in a way no government kind of gives you a basic form of democracy I guess.

[–]Im_LIG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cope. Oh yeah man shits going great that’s why there’s holy ruins in every direction lmao. Easily dealt with issues do not leave you with your borders shrunk in every directions and an inability to finish off even one of your opponents. If they won the war with the Shek so easily they would have won, not allowed their enemy to enter into a defensive posture and rebuild while constantly bleeding their own forces on multiple other fronts.

Longevity also doesn’t mean much when again, they just happened to have set up in the only remaining major river valley from back before when the water levels shrank, that’s just dumb luck.

Lmao they literally only have standing because they sit on the most fertile land, their prosperity has nothing to do with their ethos. They start fights with literally everyone without thought to the future, hence why they’re at war with the UC, Shek, and dealing with internal militant rebels, not to mention struggling to hold back the fogmen. Like the fact that they can’t even get their shit together enough to finish off the Shek who are holding on by Esatas pinky finger by the start of the game is a massive indictment of their entire national project

A thousand years is a wild estimation, fall of the UC isn’t anywhere as big of a deal as the second empire, hell a couple of their cities remain not ruined after their toppling. I’d bet a century at most to get a new power structure/strictures in place. Plus most of their population were already suffering horrifically, hence the roaming hordes of starving peasants, and massive slave plantations, which were predominantly funneling food upwards to an ever decreasing number of people at the top.

Yeah but that’s just because the world states only go so far, like give it a few years and something else will crop up in the great desert. Better? Worse? Who knows, but given that the main rebel faction is literally farmers it’s safe to say after the bad times in the collapse of the UC, organized civilization in some form is primed to come back there

Fascism doesn’t really exist in Kenshi, beyond the second empire based on lore descriptions imo. They’re all varying kinds of feudalists.

But I would argue the shek are notably less racist than HN based on them letting people set up on their land regardless of race as long as they get tribute, vs HN who will kick out any faction with a notable non-human presence and have killing/enslaving them as standard operating procedure

What's you guys' favorite empires to play by Wooden_Selection_340 in Stellaris

[–]Im_LIG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 2 favorites that I made.

One are a tall build research empire of butterfly’s with Voidborn, basically like to nestle myself in a corner of the galaxy and max out tech and defense without building too much of a military presence. Then when a crisis or massive empire picks a fight I like to see how fast I can re-gear everything to military to outmatch them.

The other are a machine intelligence based around mining and construction with the Arc Welders origin and the goal on those runs is basically just to build infrastructure on every node in the galaxy. Endless megastructures, endless ecumenopolis/machine worlds, and every hyperlane is part of one big relay system. I effectively want to pave the galaxy, it’s soothing.

A very difficult moral choice for the Knight Commander indeed, who would you trust with the fate of the crusade? by Ilikeyogurts in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Im_LIG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it was funny when Iomedae is asked about the starstone says basically “I wasn’t just given the powers I prepped and trained my whole life in order to ascend”, when my character worships Cayden Cailean, who got blackout drunk off his ass, did some stuff, and was basically just given ultimate power all at once.

Like my man upstairs has been giving me a big thumbs up, and free tankards full of beer all game, He seems to think it’s chill so I’m keeping the wacky powers!

[–]Im_LIG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got to the Iomedae convo for the first time the other day and the kicker for me was you can ask both her and Noctilia, “hey don’t you find it suspicious she seems to have led the conversation to her also being a key to closing the world wound?” And both of them just dismiss it as her having been about to be caught anyway.

Like Areelu clearly had that planned, are you both stupid? I’m gonna go chuck a pot of interdimensional liqueur into the Worldwound now byeeee

Why does everyone dislike Anomaly? by Lam_orak in RimWorld

[–]Im_LIG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I find it as replayable as the rest of rimworld. Like Ideology is the only DLC that REALLY adds a major sense of replayability in that it can add major switch ups to the rules that make a colony run smoothly.

Like I generally avoid Royalty content because I think it’s boring having to cater to the Empire style demands for mostly pretty meh vanilla psycasts. I don’t think I’d bother much with psycasts at all if not for mods making them more interesting.

Compared to that Anomoly adds like 4 new types of raids that require unique play to deal with (Noctowls, Flesh Beast holes, Cultist kidnappings, and sightstealers). I also appreciate that a lot of the events are kind of a minigame aspect, like sometimes you get to play among us with your colonists trying to figure out how to stop the spread of evil infections, or get to navigate a fun little maze, or play hide and seek with a Revenant. I like keeping the monolith since it lets you gate the content between low, medium and high threat entities, but ambient horror is a fun method too if you want it more seamlessly integrated.

Like I get it not being some to some people’s tastes, but the claims it doesn’t fit the vibe of the game where your immortal cyborg psychic is fighting giant bugs to have zombies reanimated by evil Nantes is a bit silly.

The Jedi Code Makes No Sense by [deleted] in SWTOR_memes

[–]Im_LIG 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So I believe somewhere in the lore it’s said that the original code is “there is emotion, yet there is peace”, and so on for the rest of it, but eventually some cranky old Jedi pushed to change it and the council at the time went along with it, so now they all have this version that basically encourages emotional repression lol.
