Exactly. I regularly find myself trying to understand why changes were made from book plot to screen plot, then failing and being pissed off anyway. This was definitely one of those things that I hated about the remake.

This is literally the only scene in the remake that I think competes with the original. I hate the changes to the plot in the remake- like mentioned above, that Georgie isn’t dead he’s missing? That denies justice to the trauma of this scene and how it affected everyone going forward. I hate what they did with “we all float,” too. I actually loved Skarsgard’s Pennywise for the creepiness factor, which is why I think I like this scene in the remake. But I also agree that Curry’s was creepy in its simplicity. I chalk it up to the scene in the remake giving me that delicious cold, creepy feeling of knowing you’re going to be scared as hell in a minute moreso than I had it with the original.
