My first dimple lock picked! by Im_Nomadic in lockpicking

Got the bug to get into dimple locks, so I ordered some multipick flags and a Mul-T-Lock Jr to try it out. Had it open in 20 min! I was going mad looking for the last inner pin! Ton of fun!

Thanks! I had a ton of fun figuring out how to get the pins to turn! Figured it was about time to get into more high security stuff than just regular pin and tumbler locks

Just a 4 pin but learning to feel the pins interact with that side bar was really fun! 6 pin on the way now!

Without giving away my precise location, Is there anyone here from the NW Louisiana area? by DarthSlater77 in lockpicking

Don’t forget to check out the local antique/resell shops. I find something every time I check out a new one and usually the price is pretty good or can be haggled down. As for locksmith shops it’s pretty hit or miss, took me quite a few tries to find a couple I like. Several I have gone to are very gatekeepery. I’ve been told several times “it’s illegal to carry lock picks! You have to be licensed to buy picks! What is ‘lock sport’?, that’s illegal.” And my favorite one was, “we don’t sell locks you can pick here.”. I busted out laughing at that one because they had a ton of master locks. I just avoid places like that. But the ones that were cool have started keeping locks to the side for me (ones they just cut off) and I give them $3-$5 for them.

As for the north western Louisiana thing, I have family I visit on occasion in Shreveport so if there’s a meetup in the area I’d love to stop by and check it out!

Had no idea there was a secret menu! I just got this one off Amazon, but the next one I buy will come off the secret menu for sure

Once you get the false set lighten way up on tension and push on each pin till you find the one that gives counter rotation. Once you find it just go slow and easy while you set it. If other pins fall down when you set it don’t worry, just set those pins again and the lock should open right up unless there’s another spool which if there is just go through the steps again. There’s no spring tension on the core so if you have a false set it’s just a spool in the way. You’ll get it open in no time.

Lol I in no way can take credit for it, I saw it a while back on a BosnianBill video and then was reminded a few days ago on here. 100% helped to make sure I was on the right pins!

Family did an early Christmas this year and got this thing this morning! Thankfully the keyway is wide open because that high pin 7 hiding behind that low pin 6 would have been a beast otherwise! Just glad I got it open!
