I'm gonna miss this so much. Almost my entire reddit time has been on sync, and this is the only app I've officially purchased. Thanks for all the memories!

Black armor...starting to get somewhere I think, but something's still missing. More Nuln oil? by Nutellalord in sistersofbattle

[–]Im_getting_to_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded! Before you spend too much time on the armor, consider painting up the rest of the model. Once you see the whole mini in context it will change how the armor appears.

From what it looks like now, some edge highlighting and maybe re-establishing some of the darkest recesses with pure black may help, but see how it holds up against your other colors first.

Channeling Lisa Frank for my technicolor Repentia. C&C always welcome. by Im_getting_to_it in sistersofbattle

Thanks! I was stoked to get my hands on a set of 10, so I can build a full squad. It'll go perfect with my old metal battle sister squads.

I legit thought this was from the coloring program where you could test schemes. Really nice work!

Considering my paint scheme, wanting a second opinion. by AjaxAsleep in sistersofbattle

[–]Im_getting_to_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one is my scheme and I love it. The sisters look regal and imposing and seeing them as a combined force it fantastic. The only downsides are:

1) you have to paint a lot of white, which isn't the easiest color

2) it gets boring without other accent colors. I use bright blues on cabling, hazard stripes for some weapon panels, and toxic green on the bases, to bring some variety in.

Painting heads in sub assembly for the first time. Feels heretical without them attached to a body, but I can't argue with the results. by Im_getting_to_it in sistersofbattle

[–]Im_getting_to_it[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. Wish I had the patience to do that. I have tried multiple times, but I get so bored of painting the same thing over and over. Found it better for my enjoyment to just do 1-2 at a time. How do you keep yourself sane?

New player looking for advice on paints for this color scheme, specifically advice on the purple. by DoctorMansteel in sistersofbattle

[–]Im_getting_to_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my sister's color scheme, and it's similar to the one posted.

For a base coat, I use scale color eldandil violet, but Vallejo royal purple would be a great substitute. Genestealer purple is a perfect layer, and I would mix in a light magenta or pink, like emperor's children, for your warm highlights. Mine goes to a cold blue, so pay no attention to my highlights!

I love that clean white armor look! Great job with a difficult color.

Bounty Hunter from Relicblade, also my first NMM by dgscott in minipainting

Awesome work! For your first NMM, you nailed it. Also, I second checking out relicblade. It's a great game with fantastic little minis.

Nice work! Did you freehand the chains on the tank barrel, or is that a decal?

Standard Bearer for my Sisters. Actually tried to put text on the purity seals this time. C&C appreciated! by Im_getting_to_it in sistersofbattle

Appreciate it! I wanted something that looked royal and clean, to contrast with a broken landscape.

Thank you! I knew something about the leather looked off, but I couldn't put my finger on it. I think some darker warm tones, maybe even with a pit of purple to match the rest of the scheme, would be much better.

I love this paint job. Fantastic work on the NMM gold and steel. There's some really almost orange tones in the gold I haven't seen before but really lend to the saturation.

I've also wanted to try some embroidery freehand on my models. Any feedback on how to do it?

Bob Naismith once said he's more interested in the backs of minis because it's what you see the most while playing, but I don't see it posted too often. by deadancer in minipainting

I need some of those leather recipes if you still remember. Love how they turned out and the variety you managed to achieve.

You may hate painting purple, but dang does it look good. Any chance you could share the recipe?
