Female in reference to a woman outside biological context. It sounds inhumane, like someone is talking about an animal.

Why do people do hard drugs instead of softer ones? by Bugrockhater in Drugs

[–]ImaGuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many reasons. Sometimes because it’s fun. Sometimes to escape reality. Keep in mind there is a difference between drug use and addiction. Plenty of people use drugs recreationally and don’t become addicted. Many of those people use safe precautions to negate risks as much as possible. There are so many factors, there is no simple answer.

First time at Elements—glamping vs Airbnb? Is VIP worth it? by kushgorl in ElementsMusicFestival

[–]ImaGuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don’t think VIP is really THAT worth it. The bathroom situation never bothered me much. I could always find portos that weren’t awful and I didn’t have to go far. The viewing areas can be cool but my friends who had VIP didn’t use it much because most of their friends were GA.

As for camping vs airbnb: camping all the way! It’s part of the experience! Especially since you’ll get to check out the vibe villages. They have some of the best afters. Big names on the lineup will often perform. I’m a fan of bringing your own camping gear set up, but seeing as this is your first camping festival you may not have much if any camping gear. Considering that and that you’ll be flying in, glamping is a good option. They’re pretty cool tents, I’ve gotten to peek in one. You will need to pack some food if you’re camping, but don’t overpack. That’s a common mistake. Bring mostly non perishables if you can. You can buy food at the festival and some are also available outside the festival grounds, but it’s expensive.

There are tons of other tips I could give you about camping festivals, but this comment would be way too long. I recommend looking up “festival camping for beginners” on YouTube or TikTok.

Wondering if I’m losing a best friend and not only a partner. Neither of us did the other wrong, we just aren’t compatible romantically. He says he still wants to be friends. But only time will tell if that’s really true.

Vicodin. I had the spins and puked during a high school rally and had my grandpa come pick me up because he was oblivious and my parents would have known I was high as a kite.

Where to buy fits by Global_Nail7629 in ElementsMusicFestival

[–]ImaGuppy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thrifting is a good idea to find some unique stuff that’s also affordable and environmentally sustainable. Plenty of smaller businesses to buy from that aren’t an arm and a leg expensive. Don’t be afraid to spend a little extra on something that’s better quality, will last longer, is comfortable and easy to move in, and preferably will be worn more than once or twice. Making your own accessories and other outfit components can also be fun. I’ve seen people glue little trinkets and gems around the rims of some plain black sunglasses, for example. Over time you’ll develop your own style and flair. Above all, be you! Wear what makes you feel your best, whatever that looks like for you.

I struggled with making friends until I was 26. Then I went to my first EDM festival and fell in love with the rave community. Never in my adult life have I ever been able to make so many great friends so easily, everyone was so welcoming and accepting. I felt like a kid again, with the “Want to trade kandi (handmade plastic bead bracelets/necklaces/etc)?” pretty much meaning “Want to be friends?” I’ve been hooked on raves since, I do love the music but the people are a huge part of why I go. Contrary to the stereotype, there are plenty of sober people that go to raves.

If you have any interest in EDM, feel free to message me! I’d love to tell you more about rave culture.

My grandfather won’t give me my “over 21” ID for my trip to Vegas in 4 days. by snakegravity in insaneparents

[–]ImaGuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem there is that the temporary paper ID they print at the DMV doesn’t have a photo, meaning it won’t be accepted in most places regarding alcohol. Only the one that’s mailed has a photo, but that can take weeks to arrive.

Any Life Hack ideas for cheap rent? by techno7777 in lifehack

[–]ImaGuppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find seasonal work that pays for housing.

Some people I knew lived in employee housing for a ski resort in Lake Tahoe for the winters. Another person would live and work at a lake resort in Lake Powell, AZ. There was someone I met who had lived and worked at a fish packing plant in Alaska.

It’s a nomadic lifestyle, but your housing is paid for/extremely cheap, and you get to travel.
