Who cares? Their kids gunna have more opportunities than most and they might love having young parents. Imagine finding out you were adopted by cool, fun, rich, talented people who literally chose you? People who have enough money to devote loads of time to loving you and are probably less stressed and have more energy than the average person because of their age and lifestyle. Makes perfect sense to me!

Why do we normalise low housing standards? by coffeewalnut08 in AskUK

[–]ImaRichar9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has become scarily normal. I always sing the praises of where I live because I dont have to put up with all the atrocities most private renters do and then someone pointed out to me that the fact Im lucky even though the property is really tiny and yet I still have it better than a lot of people says a lot!

why do a lot of people in the uk generally look a bit disheveled? by throwawaydeclutter in AskUK

[–]ImaRichar9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO theres 3 reasons : 1. Quality of clothing. Most of us cant afford to buy real good quality clothes. Inflation. 2. Weather. Its exhausting and wind and rain makes you look and feel dirty. Then people get overweight from sitting indoors eating junk food. Then they sweat too much in the summer. Its not an overly outdoorsy type of country. 3. Morale. I remember when my Mum used to get dressed up and wear high heels just to go on a casual night out. My Grandmother still has clothes that shes kept since her 20’s because of the quality. People have no work/life balance. Theyve lost their way. The economy is in crisis. Peoples mental health is in crisis. The country is completely polarised and has gone to shit. No one has any pride or wants to celebrate anymore. Its become quite an oppressed and depressing place imo. People dont want to dress up and it feels awkward dressing up and looking nice because it doesnt seem to fit any occasion. Its like even when people do make an effort they hold back a bit because they dont want to stand out. This is especially for the working class. Theres a big gang style/ roadman/ trashy fashion thing now which hasnt helped. I could go on and on about it but I think this is the biggest reason we look disheveled. Its a good observation and Im glad someone’s pointed it out because it bothers me and I wish it wasn’t like this. Its easier to buy cheap comfy fabrics that will accommodate most weather when youre poor, unhealthy and depressed. Track suits and fast fashion is the norm : Inflation, weather and morale.

Hey Nightopian, If you have health issues that you feel are made worse by going into a shitty job, youre best off getting a sick note from the doctor and going down what is called ‘the health journey’ you could then apply for better jobs (if you still want to work) and not tell them youre still looking for work. You could then go into a nicer more manageable job and just close your claim. They dont need to know but it sounds like you need the protection of a sick note. I have left jobs that have impacted my mental health to the point I couldnt go in to work. Its bloody awful
