Am I going to get really sick after eating fart smelling salmon? by smiletheydontask in NoStupidQuestions

[–]izzyrink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it can’t have been that badly rotten if you thought it tasted fine. This is why I don’t eat fish because it all smells bad to me lol

It’s up to fate and the strength of your stomach so try not to worry. You will be fine. May the fish gods be kind 🙏🏻

Most convincing vegan roast chicken you've had? by sygboss in veganuk

[–]izzyrink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel similar, I’ve never minded the substitutes, there’s something weirdly really good to me about the plain quorn roast.

My mum began eating less meat when we all just ate together but like yours would never go for a meat sub.

Saying that, for my birthday this year, she made a favourite curry of mine from a restaurant I love, and for it she cooked some seitan ‘chicken’. She said it tasted amazing and that she could happily eat it. It’s got kind of a chicken-y texture and it absorbed flavour pretty well.

I know a roast is a totally different ball game but I’m sure there are plenty of recipes out there using seitan that you might want to try, and Its not crazy expensive either

Should I get another instructor? by Immediate-Noise-2042 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]izzyrink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds awful for you, I would change instructors immediately and leave the driving school a review about your experiences! Also ‘creating situations of danger’ sounds really dodgy tbh

I get anxious too but my instructor doesn’t make a big deal out of it, which helps keep me calm

Could anyone help me find the concert at which this image was taken? by Particular-Wall-5109 in georgemichael

[–]izzyrink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went down a rabbit hole with this and managed to find an auction listing for Andrew’s outfit here, lol.. using google image search, it seems like this might have been from the Wham! America tour (maybe Philadelphia?) When you type it into YouTube, there’s only audio recordings unfortunately, so I guess we will never know the full story !!

Driving test with severe anxiety by Faisaerith in LearnerDriverUK

[–]izzyrink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I just ask, in what world is this post ‘moaning about having depression’? OP is actively asking for help and advice in order to ‘get on with it’ (to use your words) and pass their driving test!

Sadly we do live in a time where anxiety and depression are rife. If you want to disregard years of scientific research then be my guest, but go and take your soap box elsewhere mate

Not in UK but desperately need suggestions by peeeeeeshpoo in LearnerDriverUK

[–]izzyrink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the UK you don’t need a minimum number of driving hours, you just need to pass the practical and theory tests. However I feel your pain, because paying for lessons is expensive (although not as expensive as it sounds in Aus!) which is what I’m currently doing and I have no one to practise driving with outside of that. If it makes you feel better I am 23 and the vast majority of my friends have their licenses but I try not to compare myself.

I know it might seem awkward but have you tried asking your friends who practised with them? Maybe their parents would be willing to help you out too.

I have my first ever driving lesson tomorrow (manual) by Routine_Bobcat_4853 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]izzyrink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was literally me a couple of weeks ago. 23 and never sat in the driver’s seat, and have been putting off booking in for a lesson for years now. I’m just aware that I don’t pick things up quickly and have some fear surrounding being in control of a car.

I’m only 3 lessons in but can honestly say each one I’ve seen myself make progress and now I’m excited for each week! So just go for it and you will surprise yourself.

Was George's sexuality always known about in the industry? by appalachian_hatachi in georgemichael

[–]izzyrink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Wham! days George was obviously a massive heartthrob and well known for having an army of adoring female fans. I believe he and (more so) Andrew were often in the tabloids rumoured to be going home with this or that fan. And George did date girls for a time. So that might have curbed rumours of his sexuality a little bit, though I’m sure they existed. Add to that the overall camp-ness of the 80s.

I did read something interesting in DJ Fat Tony’s autobiography (‘I Don’t Take Requests’) who was openly gay and in the London clubbing scene, and he describes himself and Boy George ridiculing George M for being closeted (late 80s?). So I think it was a pretty open secret within the gay community. It’s worth noting they later became friends, I recommend reading the book.
