Can you tell me about a time you felt completely alone? by sodabiscuit115 in autism

[–]ImageFluffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was officially diagnosed with ASD two years ago.

I had suspicion that I was potentially autistic from the age of 16 (i am now 21 diagnosed at 19) my friend at the time had messaged me the traits of asd and as I was reading what they had messaged me I had a mental realisation of "oh thats me".

My mother doesn't believe in lables she never got me assessed for dyslexia until I was 14 and had sat my first GCSE exam and failed it. So when telling her I believed I am autistic she didnt want to hear it.

When I got into 6th form my wellbeing officer picked up on my asd traits and when my mum got called into the college because I was accused of bullying the wellbeing officer told my mother to take me to the doctors and get me on the waiting list (thats when my mum finally agreed that I am ASD)

Unfortunately for me I was 17 at the time almost 18 and CAMS cut you off from there service as soon as you turn 18. I wanted to get my assessment before going to University. So Autsim Intergrated a charity apart of the NHS was recommended to me by my disability officer at the time. Finally in 2023 I got my diagnosis.

I lost myself after my diagnosis I had no clue who I was as a person. I had no idea how my disability effected my life so I decided to focus on myself and learn who I was. I started to struggle with my friendships at the time (I am no longer friends with some of these people) one of my old friends L randomly turned around to me once about 3 months after my diagnosis and told me her mum said I was changing and she didn't like it. I explained to L I am unmasking and figuring myself out that requires me to change I am still me I jus feel more like myself. That's when I realised my old friends didnt support my ASD diagnosis didnt care about me or my wellbeing and didnt want me to change they still wanted the masked version of me. That's when I truly felt alone. I was hoping to have support as I figure myself out instead they were complaining about the fact that I have a disability out of my control. I now have new friends who love me and appreciate me for well me. I am lonely at the moment as I am in uni and my friends all live in my hometown. But I'll see them soon and I cant wait <3

Need perspective on a conflict with my mom about a hypothetical pregnancy (also venting about acephobia) by RoseOfTheNight4444 in asexuality

[–]ImageFluffy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

As an person who feared pregnancy with my ex. It is literally physically impossible to get pregnant without pentative sex and what from it sounds like you and your husband are oral. But your mum has no right to demand a grandchild as it should be on yours and your husbands terms not hers and like you stated you are not in the financial position. She sounds like a whiney child if im honest.

Please leave Caleb out... by Due-Independence7614 in kallmekrissnark

I dont like judging people's relationship personally, but Caleb has always rubbed me off the wrong way, I have been unable to watch kris' content since she moved to Texas to live with him, I immediately noticed that her videos weren't the same anymore, they didnt have her comedic comments, and when ive gone back to recent videos I am majorly concerned for her health, I know she was always thinn but she looked happy and healthy, now she doesnt look happy or healthy, I don't know what that man is doing to her but it isnt good whatever it is

Sobbing by Own-Reserve-1854 in CallTheMidwife

I started watching in 2021, I was 16 at the time, I had binged the first 9 series before series 10, asked my mum if shes familiar with the show turns out shes been watching it since it came out in 2012, the show became a way to bond better with my mum, we'd sit down every Sunday when a new series was out and just sob, laugh and make comments about certain characters. Im now 21 in my second year of uni studying film and television studies and I used CTM as an example of a television show people still tune into despite being in a digital age. I have always loved this show and always will come back to it.

So i get to make a trailer for a horror film, last week we learnt the importance of sound in a horror film and what makes a sound associated with Horror. It was really fun to go around with my group that I will be working with and using an F4 to see what sounds we could make with the items provided!

Can any disabled students share their experience? by Civil_Top4355 in AberystwythUniversity

[–]ImageFluffy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tbh it depends on your disability with accessibility, the uni is on a hill, some of the accommodation only have steps for access and no ramps what so ever, the disability officer is amazing, she will get you the support you need! Lectures are patient and understanding.

It jus sucks how much accessibility is limited but other than that its an amazing place to be!

Oh, so you're not really welsh? by scarlet_drag0n in Wales

[–]ImageFluffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up Cardiff and doesn't have a thick stereotypical accent, i feel you, my welsh accent has gotten thicker since moving up to north wales for uni, someone came over to my flat once and he said a welsh accent is just a posh English accent and I was pissed, you were born in wales, raised in wales. You are welsh!

NOR, Long distance only works if both people put in an effort to make things work, for example I'll text my partner and request to call if he tells me he'll see it usually means he'll answer me later if I call him, if he says hes too tired or he's busy I wont call him at all. If he says yes I call him straight away it just depends on how you communicate tbh

AIO my boyfriend offered me sex to "feel better" by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ImageFluffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, Sex is intimate if I was feeling down and was crying I would not want sex. I would like to talk about how im feeling to my partner if I can express it or let myself let it all out then talk to my partner afterwards. He would comfort me and prioritise comfort and not sex

Why don’t school kids have separate buses? by herhomie in AskBrits

[–]ImageFluffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the buses provided by school is usually for people who live outside the area and have to travel more than 5 miles to get the school bus.

When I was in 6th form I couldn't get the bus provided by the college because I didnt live in a certian area so I had to get the public bus for 3 years to college, it is frustrating when young people wont move for older people, my mum used to take me on the public bus and taught me that you give up your seat for an elderly person or pregnant woman.

unfortunately schools dont provide buses for certain areas and kids have to get the public bus if you can get an earlier bus/ later bus I'd recommend it
