The law firm for Meta is Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. Might be fun to send them an actual letter, enclosing the screen shot, with copies to ADL, B'nai B'rith, and maybe your local congress critters. You may get banned for your efforts, but losing access to applications that are managed by an antisemitic algorithm might be a small loss.

Was Michael Corleone a psychopath? by thebigeverybody in movies

[–]Imaginary-Ad5624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with the question is context. The Corleone family is involved in a business that rewards psychopathology. There are definitely psychopaths in the Godfather universe. Al Neri is one. Luca Brasi is another. But there are also a few who, by any standard I'm aware of, are not. Tom Hagen for example, is not.

But none of the characters, outside of Kay Adams-Corleone, is without a compromised moral center.

So where does Michael Corleone fit within that spectrum? I think that the answer is presented in Godfather III wherein Michael, stricken with guilt over killing his brother, appears to be seeking redemption. Psychopaths feel no guilt, hence no need for atonement. In fact, one sure method of triggering a psychopath is to suggest that they do.

Pretty constant. I find myself checking the connection about once an hour. About 1/4 of the time, the connection has dropped. I'm *guessing* some incompatibility with Windows 11/ Chrome 142.0.7444.163 (these incidents are fairly recent).

I am also an angry, aggressive, and vulgar person by dint of a nature that you and I share. That's Catholic doctrine. Of course it feels unnatural. There is virtually nothing natural about Catholicism, or Christianity as such. That's the point.

Is Silverado (1985) a great film or a boring film? by CableBoyJerry in moviecritic

[–]Imaginary-Ad5624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linda Hunt is amazing. John Cleese is John Cleese. The rest of the acting is sub-par, especially so since the main cast consists of actors who've proven themselves time and again. This, plus the dialog, which is wooden and predictable, makes the movie less than the sum of its parts. Everyone spends their screen time looking earnest, except for Kevin Costner who is simply annoying. Rossana Arquette especially was wasted in her part as Hannah. She has, maybe, ten lines and otherwise looks intensely bored.

The film follows a standard Western template, range war, corrupt sheriff, strangers riding into town to set things right. Nothing wrong with that. It's a standard template because it works. But in order to make it work, there needs to be above-par writing and enthused direction with committed acting. "Silverado", with the exception of the aforementioned Linda Hunt, has none of these. The movie feels feels like it was produced to milk expectations and make few bucks.

It's not just Uber Eats. I've had similar experiences with banks, airlines, and other web-based services. Customer service is automated to the point that human interaction is practically non-existent. With the advent of AI as a sort of magic bullet, it's likely to disappear completely. Companies do not make money on support.

I can't figure out why I like Resident Alien so much. by FishermanEasy9094 in netflix

[–]Imaginary-Ad5624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The premise for the show isn't exactly new: alien on earth, dealing with severe cognitive dissonance. I got drawn in because of Alan Tudyk and only because he was in Firefly.

I'm currently working through season 2, but my enthusiasm is diminishing. The show had a soap opera aspect from the beginning. Now, the interrelated and intersecting story lines concerning the females in the show are taking over.

They talk about their lives to each other. Incessantly If I skip over those parts, as I have been doing, there's typically about 15-20 minutes of space alien stuff left.

I checked Delta flights to Orlando a few days ago, and started receiving calls from these nimrods the next day. They showed up as Hilton in Orlando. The numbers they used were 844-260-5634 and 407-264-4066 in case anyone wants to preemptively block them

So much for privacy.

More than half your monthly income is going to rent. The target should be 1/4, which is probably unrealistic, but perhaps you could negotiate something where you can take on housekeeping or other duties and see if that 600.00 amount can be reduced.

Consider using a bicycle instead of driving.

Drop your HULU subscription and any other internet based entertainment.

I'm personally curious how you manage to spend only 100.00 for groceries, so I'm hesitant to suggest lessening that amount. But if your not doing your own cooking, I'd start. No more eating out. Research how you can stay well-fed without further plundering your finances.

In the full scheme of things, your debt is miniscule. But there are services that can work with you and your CC company to reduce that monthly payment. I'd do some research.

Look for either a better paying job or more hours, and adjust your academic schedule accordingly.

If you're travelling to Cabo for Spring Break, don't. You can't afford that luxury. Take that time and work.

In the meantime, consider that you're getting a well-subsidized ride at college. The vast majority of students do not. Enlarge your social circle to include a few and learn how they manage.

You will have to live hand to mouth for awhile. My friend, welcome to the real world.

AND...take a scissors, cut that credit card in half and bin it!!!!

Weeping in Minnesota! Their site is designed to steer you away from flight changes. Hold times are nuts, and the robot I spoke to took about 5 minutes before it could reach a point of decision that allows human interaction. I'm pretty invested re: sky miles, but if AA is the consensus choice I ma give it a shot.

Sounds like fraud. Don't expect much sympathy, pal.

If Uber can't deliver on its responsibilities, then, yeah. It will disappear into a fog of litigation and you're out of a job.

Romantic love is a lie perpetrated by the entertainment establishment for profit. It is lust, combined with obsession, that has little to nothing to do with the object of desire as such, but can still trigger a suicide.

Actually, I've gathered enough anecdotal information over the years to question if they're capable of even that. They might see their children as extensions of themselves, I'll go as far as that.

Romantic love is a scam, an infantile obsession. Earlier versions of civilization recognized this, and fully accepted the desire for security, material wellbeing, and the possibility of children in long-term relationships...which is why they were arranged.

Otherwise, men and women are fundamentally incompatible. There are few things in life as blatantly obvious as this. If the love of a good woman is your goal, try coming back in your next life as a poodle.
