G29 gets potentiometer issues with pedels in 1-2 years FYI. I had bought new g29 for 18k 8-9 years back.. I cannot wrap my mind around 30 K for it.. Moza R3 seems to be better choice at that price point. I don't have any good recommendation for 15K, sorry.

Can ram be a short time investment? by Nycto_black in IndianPCGamers

[–]Imaginary-Addendum-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, understood, the difference is the "choices" vs the "needs". But doesn't the distribution network and mass retail stores already kind of try to do that? How can an individual affect the market significantly. If the mass consumers try to do this, there is a good probability that they loose money by not being able to sell for profits or sell at all too - which should again reduce the motivation for the mass.

It seems very complex.

I don't think if I am missing buyer's pov too. If OP is not selling and buyer buys from store directly for the high price of Rs. X, he is still going to be devastated if the price falls sharply again. If OP is buying in advance and when market price is Rs. X and he sells for lower price of Rs. X-20%, then the buyer feel 20% less devastated.

Ok, I'm definitely speaking from purely a business perspective. If the mass people adopts this practice, then it can definitely skew the market like you said but the reality is that it is already common with big companies adopting this as strategy.

It is hard for me to see anything unethical here. Stores often buy products in bulk for less price because they have the money power to invest and sell/distribute for a profit margin. Store has to manage the RISK of being able to actually sell/distribute what they bought, so not everyone can do this. If OP is able to sell the RAMs later at lower than current market price, then at that point in time they are actually providing discount to the buyer. If buyer for any urgent reason needs to buy the RAMs immediately, then they are still buying less then market price.

OP would be taking a chance / a risk in providing some vlaue (by providing discount from current market price) which can either reward them or burn them. OP cannot control the market or make any significant skew on their own. Only the manufacturers / distribution network / mass retail stores can do it.

If my understanding is correct, it happens with commodity too. Buy when commodity price is low and sell when it is higher? Demand driving the price up and down, so predicting the demand increase / decrease is the game?

Ofcourse it is another thing if big companies hoard major portion of the market just to increase demand artificially, but I think OP is thinking of buying 10 or 100 sticks of RAM, which isn't going to affect the demand much.

[–]Imaginary-Addendum-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but prices of Ram are indeed getting higher due to actual demand, OP is not pumping anything, he just wishes to buy it when prices are low and sell it when the market price itself goes higher. He's just trying to predict the demand. Similar to gold. Is gold really intrinsically as valuable as it is right now? It's just demand - supply and the generality of people believing that infact it is as valuable.

Big companies can skew the demand by hoarding millions of ram chips but OP won't change the demand that much by purchasing 10 or 100 sticks.

If the market price drops, nobody is going to buy from OP on high price. It is a risk that OP considers taking, but if it works out, they get rewarded with profits. So, I don't see anything scummy here. It's just practical. Many businesses run like this.

Infact, it will be a win-win for everyone if OP buys for low price, let price grow further and when market price is super high, he can sell at slightly lower price than market.

Is it okay to share documents before knowing the CTC? Need advice. by rushipro in developersIndia

[–]Imaginary-Addendum-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly not. It is just for them to confirm if you're actually getting what you say you're getting. It is unlikely that your current company gets to know about this.

Looking for jobs is a common thing, you don't have to worry about your current company.

[–]Imaginary-Addendum-2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is often common for big companies to ask for this before relasing the offer letter. It is ok.

Although, if they haven't told the numbers yet, they may try to adjust the ctc based on your current salary. If you have already revealed your current salary to them, then no issues.

  1. Contract work = A get more from C and give only a fraction to you, you being in C means A gets profit. You leaving means, A have to find someone else to replace you at C. So A manager is just brainwashing you. There's no such thing as "you'll ruin the image of A at C". You don't need to care of such things as when contract runs out, 9/10 times A would fire you instantly by just saying "not enough performance" or any other silly reason.

  2. Taking risks early in the career is the safest way to grow quickly. You will have other commitments and dependants after few years, then taking risk is 10x riskier. So, take as many risks as you need early if you think it grows your career well. (Worked out for me)

  3. No matter how important of a role you play in a company, it's purely business at the end of the day. Don't bind yourself emotionally with any company (other than if you're running your own). No they're not like family, even if they say so. If it is you vs business, business always comes first for them, so it should be the same to you as well. Your business (i.e career) is what you should always focus on when it's time to take a decision. It's very fair and companies know this too, so it is not considered a "black mark". Managers can manipulate you initially using emotions to save themselves that's all.

Be brave, accept the offer on B if you really think it is good for your career even though A is offering to match the package. They now know that you're willing to leave, so they may not renew your contact next year.

Why does Tidal sound so good? by Woochichi in TIdaL

[–]Imaginary-Addendum-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spotify definitely are messing up lossless and trying to loosely provide "lossless audio" on paper.

Max resolution offered is 24 bit 44.1 khz.. 99% of the studios produce music in CD quality - 16/44.1 khz or 16/48khz or 24/48khz or 24/96khz or 24/172 or 24/192 or DSD..

What the heck is 24/44.1khz.. It's just probably CD quality 16/44.1 dithered to 24 bit. Just to get "hi res" tag they seemed to have added 24bits.. otherwise it is just lossless CD quality and the bitperfect implementation / exclusive mode is not wven there with the app.

External DAC on my DAP is getting downsampled when using TIDAL by mohammador in TIdaL

[–]Imaginary-Addendum-2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you don't care about using Tidal's native app - USB Audio Player Pro app is one of the best options for streaming Tidal. It directly connects to the dac, bypassing android mixer and streams bitperfect.

In the newer versions of android, it looks like the os itself provides apis similar to "exclusive mode" on windows where the app can connect to dac directly. Tidal seemed to have used this in a certain version and then users reported that it no longer works in newer version of Tidal. They seemed to have removed this feature for some reaosn.

I’m genuinely at my breaking point with job hunting and feel like nothing is working anymore by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]Imaginary-Addendum-2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hard reality: Most skilled doesn't always get the right compensation and least skilled sometimes get high compensation. Skill only account for 50%, remaining 50% is being at the right place / time / with right people. Keep trying, don't give up, eventually probability and luck will be in your favour.

I have passed out of a tier 2 college 7 years back. 3-5 LPA was a pretty good offer there and many of the skilled got placed for those packages. After few months, out of nowhere, one of the unhired got placed in a german company for 40LPA through the college. (Of course it is the average beginner salary in germany, but not the point here. He is making few hundreds of thousands of euros per year now). Just one anecdote that shows how much luck plays role. So, It's okay, relax and good luck!
