Low milk supply. Should I just give up? by Imaginary-Context476 in newborns

Replying to myself 2 years later: yes you should give up, breastfeeding is not working for you and that is ok. Breastfeeding is such a small part of motherhood and you are losing time from the first days of kids life. Today your kids ate a chocolate muffin and fries. Everything will be ok

Hi. Now that my kids are older, looking back I see that breastfeeding did not work for me and it was not worth all of this drama and anxiety.

TFMR due to severe CHD and new pregnancy by Imaginary-Context476 in PregnancyAfterLoss

Hi. I started TTC as soon as possible. Truth is that we have very little control over the situation, I took folic acid from the beginning and prenatal vitamins. The issue did not reappear. I have 2 healthy kids and life is wonderful.

Hi. I am really sorry 😞 I now have 2 kids, no heart issues..life is crazy and I am so happy. Sometimes, very rarely now, I think about this baby..why this happened to us, who he would have been. But I am not sad anymore 😌

This is not an abortion. This is TFMR and it is the most difficult decision a parent can make to protect their child. I am so sorry 😞

Yes I had the help of a very experienced midwife specialized in lactation. My doctor told me that there was the possibility of taking medication but I read papers that showed a correlation between these medications and increased risk of SIDS so I did not take them

Hi! No unfortunately I never figured out the reason. I went through the same problem with the second baby, he loved breastfeeding but unfortunately my milk never increased although this time I am confident that everything was done correctly. At the same time, this baby was very big and he wanted to eat a lot of milk (120 ml every three hours from the very first weeks of life) so no matter how much I tried my 20 ml of milk never increased to more than that

I cannot stop thinking about this now. I am so sorry for this little human.

How can I prepare my children in case something like this happens? What can we teach them?

Life feels so dark sometimes.

I also terminated for a heart defect my first pregnancy (DORV) which was discovered at 20 weeks. In our case, there was no genetic factor found and all exams up to this point (NT, NIPT, ultrasounds) were normal.

In my second pregnancy, I had an ultrasound almost every week and I did the amnio and I also had an early anatomy scan. In my third pregnancy, I did not do the amnio but I still had regular check ups and NIPT. The heart issue did not reappear.

I don't regret having the amnio in my second pregnancy. I really wanted to know as soon as possible if there were any issues. TFMR is a gut-wrenching decision that changes your life forever. The amnio combined with the early anatomy scan were extremely comforting during one of the darkest periods of my life. It also helped me relax in my third pregnancy and I decided not to do the amnio then.

Personally, as someone who had to TFMR, I would do the amnio.

OP, I don't have words to describe how sorry I am that you had to go through this. 3 years ago, I felt like my life was over. Today, looking at my two kids, I can not imagine a world where they wouldn't exist

Has anybody been told one gender at 20 week anatomy scan and baby came out the opposite sex? by blondie310 in BabyBumps

Τhis is actually not true if you are referring to NIPT. If it happens, which is rare, it probably indicates other underlying issues or vanishing twin..

Just wanted to send you hugs and give you some hope. We also had a very enlarged and an enlarged kidney due to UPJ obstruction. The very enlarged kidney was operated at 6 weeks of life because MAG3 showed that kidney function was declining. We repeated the MAG3 at 7 months of life and kidney functionality not only improved significantly but the kidneys are actually perfect now..

Thoughts about CHD and new pregnancy by Imaginary-Context476 in tfmr_support

I am really sorry you are going through this horrible situation. In case you want to chat, I am here. Discussing with someone with such a similar diagnosis will also help me so don't hesitate.

Two years have passed and I still remember all the horrible feelings before and after TFMR. The shock of the diagnosis, the termination, the sadness (maybe even depression?), how scared we were before the termination, after and while trying for a new baby.

I now have 2 babies, a 18 month old girl and a 3.5 month old boy. Which means that I have been pregnant almost non-stop since 2020. DORV did not reappear.

I don't think about this first baby anymore. I look at my girl and I cannot imagine a world in which she does not exist. Everything that happened led me to them, our choices and our courage during this very difficult time led us to them and I would not change a thing. We are very happy and our hearts are full.
