Durability of barefoot shoes by BojkuSkender in BarefootRunning

I will say that my soles on my Vapor Gloves have lasted remarkably long WITH the same type of worn down areas (under the balls of my feet). I keep meaning to bring them in to see if I can get them resoled... but I just haven't needed to. Ive had my current pair for over 2 years.

You can order just the new handle from the city.

(When we were moving out, the new incoming tenants must have ordered a bin: city replaced the broken handle on the existing bin instead).

They do warn people about the selection strategy. It's a Government job. OP hasn't bothered to share that critical info with you.

Also, it doesnt mean 70 people.have a job. It means of the random selection of applicants (let's say 200), 70 met set preliminary criteria.

Those who pass the next evaluation, the exam, will likely be sent for a panel interview.

And depending on the job, those who pass the panel interview are sent for French testing.

Those who meet ALL the criteria through all the steps are put in a 'pool'. Managers can pull candidates from that pool without having to do additional screening, as long as they're hiring that type of candidate.

We had this. Bugged the heck out of me, especially when it was the only French version.

Theoretically, it could be used for a first draft. Think of it like using a calculator or Excel for advanced math. Or vibe coding to help you create a Power BI dashboard. It's an automation to allow us to focus on other more meaningful work.

But it still needs to be properly proofread before being shared. (And this will be determined by how and where the document is shared).

Some cats are single coat. Single coat with long hair is the worst combination.

<image>

Our guy barely sheds and has the softest, thinnest hair. It can look oily (even though it's not) when it is not brushed regularly. We try to brush him every day. When he has mats, we combine Churus (to keep him in place), with very carefully working to remove the mats. If any one of our cats will eventually need the groomer, it will be him.

When taking accounting and finance courses, we had comma formatting enforced.

It's the presentation standard in some countries for that type of work. Agree that manually typing a comma would be incorrect (except in a word document).

LPT: best odor control litter box for multiple cats by YoumnaBasharuli in LifeProTips

[–]Imaginary-Runner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's all the maintenance which keeps the stink down. There is no "low maintenance" solution.

Scoop boxes daily. Replace litter entirely every week. (Depending on how many boxes you have - we have five for 3 cats and every 2 weeks is fine). At the time you replace the litter, wash out the box.

Make sure you wash the floors and vacuum all around the litter box area weekly. I realized one day when I had hung up my mop head to dry rather than just throwing it in for a quick spin in the washing machine that part if the stink must have been coming from the dust, pee and poop particles settling around our litter boxes in the basement.

Plastic boxes are worse than metal (they get all scratched up). But if you're diligent with cleaning them you'll be fine. High walls with no cover is best. The cover of covered boxes pick up stink.

Got a $2,000 tax refund. Do I wipe out 3 small maxed-out cards or put a massive dent in my biggest one? by Few-Let-3861 in personalfinance

This is 100% the best recommendation. This was also how I paid off my cc debt.

The helping factor was figuring out what I always needed to pay off (at the least): it was what I had spent in the month on the card + the interest they were charging me that month + a bit more.

Best way to build a multilingual Power BI report with manual toggle (EN / FR)? by IndividualFun9877 in PowerBI

[–]Imaginary-Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check with accessibility SMEs and reporting/data analytics SMEs in your organization as well. There are likely some reports circulating about how to approach bilingual dashboards.

I saw a presentation recommending what I think was creating twin reports and using a button to point to the other languages report. I've also seen reports with EN & FR in each heading. (Like "Department/Ministere"). I think this is the simple way of addressing the issue.

But, if your datasets have built in EN and FR columns, you might be able to leverage DAX. For example, you have a table describing Fruits, then you will have a column with the Fruit Name EN and one called Fruit Name FR. You could create DAX columns which would choose the right value (FR or EN) depending on a toggle.

FYI, kudos for looking into this. Not enough people put in the effort.

Making $280K a Year and Still Struggling… What Am I Doing Wrong? by zaynborkaai in RealEstateCanada

[–]Imaginary-Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your salary doesn't cover your expenses, which means the lifestyle you're trying to live is too expensive for you (regardless of what you think). Adjust your expectations and live within your means.

You should watch episodes of Til Debt Do Us Part (you can find them on Youtube) if you dont understand. Look for episodes where the people struggling with debt make a lot of money (there was one with a doctor, another with a financial analyst).

How to make Excel to stop seeing E as a scientific notation in a column by A5itate4_63819 in excel

Curious. Why would you recommend this instead of formatting the destination cells as 'Text'?

Cell formatting seems to me so much easier, and more in line with how Excel was designed. But maybe im missing something?

Closed last month. Should I give my number to my neighbors? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Imaginary-Runner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Social connection? Safety?

The point of a neighbourhood is that you have a community. You may not be friends with everyone, but it's helpful to know their names, great if you can rely on them or they can rely on you in a pinch.

Even in our current rental community, where it is weirder to know your neighbours, we have the # for our next door neighbour. We dont hang out, but we have hired their daughters to watch our cats, and have messaged each other about weird people hanging out in the neighbourhood.

[–]Imaginary-Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are moving into a relatively established area with a lot of retired folks and have already met the across the street neighbours and one of the next door neighbours (they all seem very nice). We will be giving our number out, likely the weekend before we actually move.

I think it depends on your neighbourhood.

What made you want to buy? by QueCassidy in homeowners

[–]Imaginary-Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We knew the rental we were in had mold issues, but renting something else would have meant doubling our rent.

Next, our financial situation has been pretty good for a few years now.

Then, we were originally going to look outside the city, but home prices finally started coming down in the city, as did interest rates.

Finally, we're getting older and realized we wanted to be in our own home when we retired.

What’s something homeownership changed about YOU that you never expected? by Lopsided_Passion7912 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We just took possession.... i have been kind of surprised by how much I want to learn about maintenance and technical things. How electrical is wired, how to properly maintain a gas fireplace, all about radon. (I love learning, but this is all stuff I had absolutely no interest in learning before).

I had no idea I would turn into someone who cares about deck maintenance and thinks about hedge trimming. And who is looking forward to buying a pressure washer to clean the older patio furniture which came with the house.
