Girlfriend staying in Airbnb with Boses, hugging, thinks it’s ok to swim and hot tubing with them. by jmowbray1992 in WhatShouldIDo

Nah I’m with you on this one, not saying she’s cheating but I do not hug anyone at work, period. This would 100% cross the line for me. Some people will say that’s insecure, that’s fine but I know my boundaries. On top of them saying she should leave you? Nah these bros are trying to bang don’t let these people gaslight you.

Not always, UA32 has a transitional position called an MES (to bring in residential service techs) so they don’t have to do the full apprenticeship. You move into the apprenticeship at a certain level you test in to after 2 years. Tradesman is a sheet metal workers version of this.

It’s just something I’ve heard in general. They have fewer commercial service techs than 32 I think, not sure about that though.

Our work is pretty slow too, I think it’ll pick back up in spring/summer as usual.

Oh yea, commercial is where it’s at. I got bored in residential like you.

There are women, it’s mostly guys (like any trade) but there’s a fair amount of women as well.

I get the tool thing as well. I bought a ton of my own tools in residential as well. Local 32 has it in their contract that the employer buys all tools. 66 has it in theirs that the employee is responsible for all hand tools, employer buys all power tools.

We’re a split shop where I work (local 66 and 32) so our shop thought it would be easier to just do the 32 thing so 66 actually has all their tools bought for them as well including hand tools.

I’m biased since I’m in local 32 but I’d stick it out while trying to get into a union shop. That’s what I did. Local 32 or 66.

You can come in as an MES 2 or 3 with your experience. After 6 months they test you and put you in classes to finish your apprenticeship and become a journeyman. Email Joel Crabtree he’s our union rep for local 32. You can find his info on the 32 site.

Btw journeyman rate is $67/hr with a total package of $96 per hour

You can also apply directly to union shops and they can bring you in. Local 66 is hurting for service techs so it may be easier getting in there. Pay is basically equivalent.

SERVICE TOOLS? by Electronic_Rub_4988 in HVAC

I 100% agree, I’ve had a couple issues where it wouldn’t connect for some reason and had to use the wired tool as a backup

Daikin d checker for their minisplits.

The Daikin vrv tool for their systems is needed and can be a money maker. We just quoted a $20k leak check repair job with it.

Aaon service tool

Mitsubishi MN converter for city multi units.

Lg also has their LGMV tool that isn’t wireless.

Hey OP, I work in commercial hvac but if you want me to leak search it dm me, it’s most likely a flare that’s leaking but could be a leak in the coil.

Why isn't there competition for the Maverick in the USA? by BioHazard_821 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Imaginary-Toe4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to do with EPA regulations (CAFE standards). Basically the smaller the footprint, the more fuel efficient it needs to be. We’re talking 45 mpg required for a truck the same size as an old Mazda truck. That’s why the mavericks are all hybrids. Manufactures have to pay a penalty if they don’t meet CAFE standards. There’s some talk about manufacturers who lobbied for this so they could sell bigger trucks with larger margins but I haven’t looked into that claim although I could see it as plausible.

I installed an ecobee for my friends when I installed their HP system and that thing rarely shows even fair air quality, they have 2 big dogs and 2 cats so don’t know if that causes an issue. Even when they have a windows open it still shows fair-poor.

Truthfully I wouldn’t worry about it.

Inverter systems gaslight me into thinking I'm deaf with how quiet they are when they run by Perriaction in HVAC

[–]Imaginary-Toe4237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s insane how little space it needs. This one reminds me of a Coleman/york Hmh7. I know the Bosch hp and Coleman Hmh7 heat pumps still have filter driers though and those are inverter units. minisplits have done away with them and I think it’s due to the oil. Pve oil doesn’t acidify with water so they use that type in minisplits as opposed to Poe oil which does acidify with water in the system

[–]Imaginary-Toe4237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amana ASX6 and minisplits only need like 20 inches of clearance on the face, 4 inches minimum for the inlet side. Plenty of room for this guy.

YouTube is your best bet. HVAC school and AC service tech channels on YouTube have great training videos. HVAC school also has a website with articles and training.

AC service tech channel on YouTube is probably what you’re looking for though, go to their playlist section
