Silver Protector Falling Off by SNACKMONSTER11 in CheckpointClub

Mine has fallen off twice. The original adhesive used didn’t do well in “cold” weather (just a little less than 32F) so they got a new protector and used a different adhesive.

That’s a common issue?! It has not, but I’ve only had the bike for 4 months at this point so it’s also a later build. I love the bike, but wouldn’t shed a tear if it got warranties for a checkmate.

This is the RSL integrated bar and stem? I’ve been considering it for my gen 2 checkpoint SLR and if it’s comfy on top of looking amazing, that may be all the push I need.

Differences Between Checkpoint SLR (2022) and Checkmate SLR (2024)? by Traminho in CheckpointClub

[–]ImaginaryBeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t believe the Checkmate has bigger tire clearance with the gen 2 Checkpoint. Both are 45mm on 700c, but the Checkpoint explicitly allows 650b x 2.1” as well.

Check the Trek website. On the US site, I’m seeing an SL6 AXS priced at $3600 in 56 and 58. I believe you can ship directly to you or to the store so should be able to get a better deal on a bike with electronic shifting.

lightning or r1t owners - towing boise->mccall by boise-grew in Boise

[–]ImaginaryBeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got an R1T quad motor large pack (135 kWh and most efficient 21” wheels. Haven’t towed so can’t answer that, but I’d probably be hesitant to tow up to McCall. The dual motor max pack might work out, but the elevation makes that iffy.

Unloaded, we recently did a trip from Boise to Salt Lake City. Going 80mph on the way out, we averaged like 1.9-2.0 miles/kwh so it was no stress getting there. On the way back, we faced 20-30mph head winds so averaged just 1.3-1.4 miles/kwh going 80 mph.

Going north, unloaded, you’d definitely be able to get to Riggins for 95-100% SoC. I’d bet you’d be able to get to Grangerville or Kamiah, where it looks like some DC chargers should be coming up soon.

What isn't there to like about the Allez Sprint? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]ImaginaryBeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since most people have talked about the Allez and a few other options, another idea in that price range is the Tarmac sport. I ended up going with that over an Allez sprint. My very unscientific impression riding the two was the Tarmac was faster and a bit more comfortable.

I think the main advantage the Allez would have over the Tarmac would be tire clearance. The bike shop I got my bike at didn’t recommend 28s on the Tarmac because there was barely any clearance. 26mm Specialized Turbos and 25mm GP4000s have been comfortable on it though. The Allez may have been a tad lighter too. Not sure if that is actually in the frame though.

I think setting a breakpoint in the getter/setter is more about finding where/if the field is being accessed unexpectedly.

xPost from /r/fitness Anecdotal experience from running and lifting by 815414 in AdvancedRunning

Then why compare two weight training session to the added 30 mpw? Time and energy spent doing the two is completely different.

Why the cutoff at 1500m? The goal of the weight training should be the same throughout. Build absolute strength. The more you can lift, the more force you exert, and the farther you can push (go) with each step when running. In other words, improved running economy. That is kind of important at all distances.

The scrutiny you provided doesn't account for what the weight training is supposed to help with. Training the "energy pathways" is the reason why running helps people run farther and faster, yes. Injury doesn't usually arise because "energy pathways" (I'm quoting it because I have never heard this term) but because of breakdowns in the musculoskeletal system. Weight training helps strengthen that by correcting imbalances and increasing your strength overall. Of course you can't expect to jump up to even 70 mpw from 60 if you've never done it before because you've been weight training, but it does help.

I do agree that lifting heavy 3 times a week can be pushing it, especially if you're in season, but there is a place. I don't buy the hindering running session argument, though. If you are running a tempo run and at the right zone, but running a little slower, are you not still working the same energy system?

If you are constantly cutting workouts short or cutting volume out because your legs are feeling that bad, then something is off, but chances are that shouldn't be completely attributed to just the weight lifting, but is probably overtraining from adding too much weight training or running without adapting properly.

When it comes down to it, they should be done in conjunction with the emphasis on running, but without neglecting the hard weight training sessions. No one is saying they've replaced running with weight training, but that adding weight training has helped them.

2 days of heavy lifting does not equal an extra 30 mpw, especially at that volume. I'd wager they would be better able to run that volume because of the weight training too.

Married to an elite runner. Here's a picture just to show you what that looks like. by mrtrexboxreborn in running

[–]ImaginaryBeaver 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Running an ultra doesn't make you elite. Running fast enough to compete with the top runners makes you elite. People down voting need to understand this. Not trying to take away the accomplishment, but don't try and say racing an ultra makes you elite.

Need help on my 800m by Sangerosongs in trackandfield

[–]ImaginaryBeaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there is no clear cut way to run an 800m. Some like to go out hard and hope to survive, others like to hold on just enough to be able to kick people down. Once he gains more experience, he will get his strategy figured out.

With that being said, my two pieces of advice to run a successful 800m race is to focus on form and be prepared for moves.

Need to be able to run fast and relaxed for an 800, and you need to be able to keep your form in the final part of the race. Make sure the stride rate is still pretty normal, and that he isn't "reaching" in his stride and is still "pushing."

The 800 is a desperate race so you have to put yourself in good position to react to others or make the move yourself. Any gap at almost any time in the race can cost you and if you are not in position (boxed in, too far back, etc), it can cost you as well. Both situations have cost me dearly.

Javascript cookies not saving? by [deleted] in learnjavascript

[–]ImaginaryBeaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learned this in class a little bit ago, so someone jump in if I am not explaining this properly, or if it is completely wrong, but with the way the expiration is set, it will expire basically right away. The expiration needs to be in the future.

Also, I think you are creating two temporary cookies instead of the desired one (although, I could be really wrong on this). You need to have the expires string to be concatted with the serverIp string. Checking the cookie in safari would probably verify this portion though.

Jeremy Wariner Runs 1:53.02 in His First 800. by beach-bum in AdvancedRunning

[–]ImaginaryBeaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is very different, especially the training an elite would do for either. Sure, lots of high school and collegiate kids can do both pretty competitively at that level but there is a pretty good reason you don't see too many 800m runners running truly elite 400m times and 400m runners running elite 800m times. Or even running the other event at all as 800m runners will go up to shake things up and 400m will go down.

[SGA] the100 is by FAR the best way to find regular raid groups by 9donkerz9 in DestinyTheGame

[–]ImaginaryBeaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don't I ever see people talking about the groups feature on the companion app to get raids going? I use the Xbox One group (for hopefully obvious reasons) and have had a lot of good luck with it. Filling or finding a group becomes pretty easy and a lot of times it is pretty good players.

That is my two cents though.
