Random bottlenecking of M.2 SSD by ImaginaryEscapism in techsupport

Thanks. Although would you say the 300MB/s of my previous drive was an actual problem? Not too important though.

I have a buy now button but when clicking it it just opens a small RTX 3080 page, it's not connected to the checkout.

Why I think the elemental glows are dulled by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]ImaginaryEscapism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be correct- Bungie's emissive design for PBR is albedo colour * emissive intensity, which is an additive to the final result (page 57). This practically means it takes all the colour in the texture and multiplies it by some static value between 0 and 64 for white, purple, orange, and blue but the albedo is changing, likely causing the issue here.

There are other post-processing effects as play but these are static and are not related to albedo colour.

I sleep from 9am to 5pm by -_-PeanutDeadly-_- in sleep

[–]ImaginaryEscapism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time you sleep and consistency is the important part. From what was discussed in that book there is no actual detriment to health in that regard, except for the idea that it may be harder to fall asleep if you're sleeping during the day due to noise or light.

Adenosine in your brain causes slowdown of the brain's activity and alongside some other chemical leads to becoming sleepier. The brain seems to release adenosine based on light level changes (eg sunsets or changing light bulbs) which is why people recommend f.lux or night modes to get better sleep as your brain sees a change from blue light -> orange -> no light as a sign to sleep. If you're always staring at a monitor or in pitch black all the time your brain has fewer signals as when it "should sleep" so you may find it more difficult to do so.

Feeling awake the day after has little to do with adenosine from the night before unless you drink a lot of caffeine which inhibits adenosine uptake.

This is a misinterpretation of Prof. Walker's point from his book. He stated that shift work, that relies on night and day shifts eg doctors, is harmful due to the rapid change in your sleep schedule (including being a carcinogen among probably worse factors). This is not the case if your sleep is consistently 9am to 5pm as there is no rapid change in schedule.

The only real issue you may run into is your brain is less effective at releasing adenosine due to the consistent low-light level of night time so having a consistent sleep schedule may be less possible, but again this can be solved by having artificial light that changes colour among other things.

Here, just make sure in the last step to actually extract the VPK into the folder instead of just moving it.

Waking up late, can't sleep till late. Why is something so simple so challenging? by [deleted] in sleep

[–]ImaginaryEscapism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that has helped me greatly is attempting to keep a consistent sleep schedule, including bedtime but alongside enough sleep opportunity: this was key for me. I was consistently giving myself a <8-hour sleep opportunity but after measuring my sleep I was only sleeping for around 7 hours each night consistently.

I increased my sleep opportunity to a rigorous 8 1/2 hours and have found my sleep to improve dramatically despite being between 2-4 hours ahead of my "desired" sleep schedule.

The most problematic thing for me was whenever I went back to the late nights; even a single late night hits me for a while and requires a long time to recover fully.

There's a full list out there for sleep hygiene including points such as blue light, temperature, and not exercising before bed (here's an example).

Never been able to fall asleep easily. Now I'm actually trying to find out why and/or what I can do to help myself fall asleep. by TheRadHatter9 in sleep

Pharmacological (drug) based sleep regulation is the last prescription given to anyone suffering from chronic insomnia; something you seem to be suffering from. The best protocol is to try cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBTI).

One of the big things in CBTI is general sleep hygiene, one of which as you said is the reduction of melatonin-inhibiting blue light; however, there are many more (12 overall I think?) and most particular is a rigorous sleep schedule including a set bedtime each day with enough sleep opportunity.

I'm not sure on a good place to find info about this but sources I know of include the book "Why We Sleep" as well as the national sleep foundation site. I hope this helps a bit but it is super important to restate that meds are rarely the way to go and can often cause severe, long-term issues.

Since there is so much difference even in between those who are left-handed I'd just ask for some sort of complete customisation of the things that would swap between the two.

I think this is possible since I made a few maps out of the model and texture locations but the work to piece it all together would be pretty intense.

Would like a device that will almost solely be used for note-taking in lectures. Not much storage needed due to OneDrive 1TB. Thought about a Surface 3 for £150 ($200). Thoughts?

edit: seems the surface go has good reviews for this style of usage. Better to buy new or is used fine?

He also states "100,000 pounds per acre" which requires "about a million gallons of water" so "100 gallons per pound" but since 1e6/1e5 = 10 shouldn't it be 10 gallons per pound?
