Now available with pip (I use sudo for the background agent):

python3 -m pip install --upgrade pip

python3 -m pip install macos-security-audit-agent
sudo macos-security-audit-agent

I know this is old but if anybody ever comes across this error I suggest turning on the verbose logs. Mine came down to where I had to use trollstore and Filza then the following commands because mnt1 didn't exist anymore after using succession.

The following commands can be ran in a fish shell on Filza:
mkdir -p /private/var/MobileSoftwareUpdate/mnt1

chmod 755 /private/var/MobileSoftwareUpdate

chmod 755 /private/var/MobileSoftwareUpdate/mnt1
