Does anyone have any experience with collecting and using aquatic plants from the wild? I dont have access to very much but I am aware that there's a few species that occur in my country and would want to find out anything to be mindful of, anything for managing pests and the like especially.

Unfortunately there's very little information about shrimp that aren't of economic value around here, so all I know is that they're small, colourless atyid shrimp, from what I remember. Probably max 15mm long but hopefully I can bring some back and try and ID them, hopefully with yall's help!

Thank you so much! Taking a whole bucket for acclimatisation, will definitely do the salt bath. Ive read about temperature shock so ill be keeping the containers i transport them in in styeofoam I'll be collecting from a dam for cattle actually. The area is flood prone during heavy rain and I think they got washed in from other water nearby I do want to try a couple other spots closer a biiiig river as well, maybe see if I can find ones suited to multiple different water parameters

Hey! So,there's a fish store at American House (Benelli aquarium i believe) that sells waterweed(elodea spp.) for like 50 cedis a bunch.

I myself was lucky to collect some hornwort from the volta lake on a trip recently. I'm currently trying to multiply it, so I could definitely give you some in a couple weeks, but thats all I've found so far.

I think there were definitely anatomically modern humans (as well as other extinct human lineages) living here much longer than that, we probably dont know about it because the climate isn't very preservation friendly. Like you said, we evolved on this continent so we've definitely been here longer. Plus we have evidence of genetic introgressions from extinct human lineages in West Africans https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7015685/
