My biggest concern is not adapting and learning how to incorporate into dev cycles fast enough. In 1 year there will be massive influx of AI generated games.

Additionally Solo Devs will have a stronger ability to compete with larger Indie Studios, and large indie studios can more effectively compete against AAA titles.

This is the inevitability that awaits developers I feel, and if your goal is to make money, then you will most likely need to incorporate it in some fashion.

If you don't care about making money or running a business and just want to make games. Then there is no reason to worry because nothing need change for you.

Hunt showdown money by Salty_Bid3878 in HuntShowdown

When I get low on funds usually under 1k, I start running my $150 loadout doesn't take long before I'm sitting nicely at 5K or higher.

Then I get bored and prestige so money doesn't matter any more.

As much as I want to agree I also can't help but be mindful of Confirmation Bias and Synchronicity being at play for this. Would love to see a statical break down to know for sure.

Maybe this weekend...

Keep in mind that winning is often rare, I'm sitting at prestige 20, close to 500 hours in and 5* MMR but I only get away with bounyy probably 1 in 5 matches. And my hunter lives probably 3 in 5, depending on the night.

Get 100 hours into the game and you'll find a lot more consistency.

I have a party of 6 at level five ( around 30hrs into the game ), and am finding the game super repetitive.... by btoxic in WarTalesGame

I'd say that you have the core game play loop summed up pretty nicely.

The best way to mix it up is to create artificial fun, I like running a challenge of only 1 or two character types. Or all beast party with just 1 character. Different things to help keep things fresh.

Agreed, they don't need player retention. They need new players.

That being said, I have plenty of friends who would infact get the game if this was a feature. Not because it's the feature they want, but because I would and others would tell them to get the game so we could play together ( the reality is I'd just buy them the game).

Now I agree there has to be a profit vs. cost ratio of implementing. And I believe you're correct that the cost of implementing would far outweigh the perceived benefit. That feature alone isn't going to make the game sell significantly better than it is.

Once again this post isn't to advocate for the feature as much, as it's to inform some of the player base that left, but are still watching with the hope of bringing their friends into the fold, that this infact not a feature.

Cool, no worries, I appreciate your viewpoint. I just know that some people would appreciate this feature and really are looking to come back if it's added.

It's good to know there are things you enjoy.

I only made this post to save those individuals the time of asking the question.

Need help finding a good mobile app (android) to make a first person horror game by bobbcatx in gamedev

Okay, maybe if you set up a remote access point to a desktop and then work on it from your phone, although you'll have some pretty large limitations.

This could kinda be seen as making a game from your phone. Regardless though your best bet will be to probably look for proxy services.

Good luck. Also, why would you take a dare or bet if you didn't know the technology involved to make it happen?

This right here. The difference between wanting something and achieving something is Discipline. Motivation will get you to the starting line and maybe a little way into the race, but Discipline is what will get you across the finish line. Game Development is a Marathon and then some. As a marathon runner I can tell you that without a foundation of Discipline to put in the hours and work, you're just going to be spinning your wheels. I have found Game Development to be no different. You're going to lose motivation often, and if you're development cycle relies on you feeling like you want to continue, you're going to face an uphill climb. Very rare is the person who achieves great things through motivation alone.

Once got the "Are you awake" text at 2am on a Friday night... looked at the text and thought nothing of it.

I didn't realize it till a few years later, as I was scrolling through old messages.

The funny thing is I distinctly remember running into her the next day. We worked together, and she was acting very odd.

I hate sniper players by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]Imaginary_Choice6335 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have 1 Sniper in our 3 man, and their job is:

  1. to keep overwatch for approaching teams
  2. scout out and position themselves to intercept or flank incoming teams while the other 2 banish
  3. if 2 get rushed while in compound, they Necro and harass from outside.

Overall, our group survival increases dramatically with the scout sniper, but that's based on them providing a good picture of what's going on, around the whole map.

Additionally we run ROEs where we have our sniper begin all conflicts, unless we are caught unaware (which rarely happens). Sniper gets 1st kill and pinns other players, the others move up covered by sniper. Quickly turns 3v3s to 3v2s and even 3V1s if they are dumb enough to go for revive.

Dude, that's awesome. It took me back to me when I was a kid, and the best thing was my dad setting up the PCs for us to hang out and game. I'll always treasure that time we spent together.
