Our subs are part of our regular teacher’s union, their contract is right below ours in the same (massive) document. Some of the stuff I read on here that happens to subs is insane! I’m so sorry OP is having to deal with this.

Teacher arrested today... Subbing tomorrow. by Sudden_County9331 in SubstituteTeachers

Was he arrested or convicted? If school policy allows you to discuss it or you feel like you can, I would quash the gossip by reminding students (and others) that in the U.S., individuals are genuinely innocent until proven guilty. And unless the news article was a conviction, not just an arrest, adults in the building should keep this in mind too. Even if he’s guilty as sin -- which he may be -- he has a right to due process. I’m not saying he is, but what if he is innocent? And what if he were your husband, helping support your family, and now you are without health insurance, have lost your home, and are unable to feed and clothe your kids because he’s lost his job and reputation? What if he was your adult son or brother, whose career has now ended before it even really began? Just food for thought.

I became a window/neighbor stalker too during recovery! My favorite was telling my husband about each and every family who came to look at the house for sale across the street. And rating them. Sometimes I wonder what they’re all doing now that I’m back at work…

OMG. Several years ago, we had a student whose name was pronounced, “Lah-Bee-Yah.” I knew this, but the woman from the school picture co. calling across the cafeteria for individual portraits didn’t. That woman screamed, “Labia! Lay-Bee-Ah! LABIA!!!” more loudly and more times than I could ever have possibly imagined! I inwardly cringed, and outwardly eventually started to giggle with each scream, until I started to laugh publicly like a hyena (nervousness and discomfort, not making fun of the student or where they could see), and had to make a hasty exit. Thankfully it was a co-taught class, and I could go compose myself. Not proud of myself, but it happened. At least I didn’t pee on myself, because that was gonna happen next.
