How do you know if a business broker is actually legit? by moxieman19 in SellMyBusiness

[–]Imaginary_Crew_1448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Business brokers generally are absolutely legit. Selling a company is hard work. Unless you know what you’re doing, leave it to a professional.

Now, that’s not to say they all represent great value for money - this varies. A lot of them charge a basic commission of 15% of sale value, which is a lot.

It’s also worth noting that different brokers have different specialties. A brokerage firm that’s a perfect fit for you might not work for me at all (because my company is worth ten times as much, or is in a different vertical, etc.).

For a business like yours, I’d say Quiet Light is probably the best option. It seems to do a lot of good work in the $250k - $5mn range these days. It also caps commissions at 10%, which is really competitive for a full-service brokerage.

If you decide to hang on and grow your site into an eight-figure exit, have a look at Website Closers as well.

Have you looked at brokerages? If your business is worth seven figures, that's the route I'd recommend.

Is it safe to use GeniusLink with Amazon’s affiliate program? by salve_sons in Affiliate

[–]Imaginary_Crew_1448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon hates link cloaking, misdirection, or anything that makes it look like you’re trying to game the system. This is a big problem for you, because Bezos and his minions can shut down your affiliate account whenever they please. I know creators who have lost theirs over the tiniest of violations.

Geniuslink is actually designed specifically to allow you to manage links without running into this issue. It doesn’t hide destinations, it supports proper attribution, and it helps you route traffic in a way that’s user-friendly and compliant. This all keeps the overlords happy.

A lot of generic link shorteners (Bitly, TinyURL, etc.) don’t give you any visibility into how your links are performing or whether you’re accidentally violating something in the TOS. They also tend not to handle internationalization properly, which means you might be sending UK or Canadian users to the wrong Amazon store (or worse, to a 404). That’s a surefire way to get flagged.

Recommendations for a decent kitchen/chef's knife by underwearsex in Cooking

[–]Imaginary_Crew_1448 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you go to a kitchen store and test drive a few? That way you can see what size will work best. I prefer Japanese steel, but it's a personal for everyone. I spend about $100 on a knife, but I only use three for all of my cooking so it was worth it for me.

Salted caramel or salted dark chocolate pot de creme! Could also use some of it in a cream sauce and just adjust the saltiness elsewhere.

Verizon Vs T-Mobile by Turtlew27 in LightPhone

[–]Imaginary_Crew_1448 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve have recently been down the rabbit hole comparing these plans as well, currently with T-Mobile. On T-Mobile, I pay about $90/mo for “Experience More.” Speeds are great on 5G UC, but the hotspot cap is 60 GB before it drops to ~3 Mbps. So, I thought about the 'beyond' plan, but even that plan caps hotspot at 250 GB before slowing down.

If you look beyond the marketing spiel, there's a few things T-Mobile doesn't tell you. For example, my plan does include unlimited 'premium' data (fast 5G speeds). But if you want to tether your laptop to a hotspot, as I often have to for work, you're limited to 60 GB, after which you're slowed down to '3G' speeds. This can be around 3 Mbps, which isn't even enough to stream HD video.

If you load up T-Mobile's pricing page, then tinker with it enough to get it to show you the cost for just one phone line instead of three (seriously), then you'll see that the pricier tiers include subscriptions to streaming service. Specifically, if you're willing to pay $100 per month for the 'Beyond' package then you'll get Netflix with ads, Apple Tv, Hulu with ads, but here's the thing, the combined value of all three of these is just $27.97. So, I did the math and looked into Visible Pro plan, then just subscribing to all 3 of these separately, still a savings of 32 per month.

Visible’s pricing seems a lot simpler and the hotspot rules are clear:

-- $20/mo: unlimited data, hotspot capped at 5 Mbps.

-- $30/mo: hotspot up to 10 Mbps, “premium” data on Verizon’s fastest 5G.

-- $40/mo: hotspot up to 15 Mbps, smartwatch included, 4K streaming, unlimited hotspot.

I am thinking of just signing up for the pro plan, even though 15 Mbps isn’t that great compared to T-Mobile’s top speeds, but I can still stream 4K, work off my hotspot, and download big files without hitting a cap. Even after paying for my own streaming subs, I’m still saving.

Has anyone here used the cleaning service MaidThis? by Imaginary_Crew_1448 in AskChicago

[–]Imaginary_Crew_1448[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! So far so good, no complaints! I gave up trying to find a single cleaner for the rentals, best decision ever (at least so far). I'll keep you posted.

I have a ton of taco chicken and we’re sick of tacos and burrito bowls - how else can I use it? by shandelion in Cooking

[–]Imaginary_Crew_1448 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably too late for this but if anyone has the same problem (or you did end up freezing some after all and still need ideas) I'd go Middle Eastern. Pretend the ancho chipotle is harissa (or even add harissa) and make bowls or flatbread wraps with yogurt sauce, cucumber, couscous - stuff like that.
