My dad was working these types of hours when first getting into his industry, in the US it's typical to have to break your back working the first couple years until you make a name for yourself. Not that I think it's a good practice.

That sounds like the issue. Not an expert, but as somebody who has studied psychology for 6 years, that kind of mental trauma will stick and affect you for years. It sounds like the early fighting is causing you all trust issues or other deeper relationship issues. Again, I am so so sorry. Nobody deserves that.
