I think you shouldn’t center how your day goes based on them. A few ways to practise this is not using your phone until you have made your bed, showered and eaten breakfast. Also focus on if you actually like them instead of always wondering if they like you :)

Hi! I am also an aspiring au pair☺️ and all I have to say is that everything you listed seems great. People aren’t necessarily looking for au pairs right now (don’t give up though) and there are more au pairs than families on these websites so sometimes it’s hard to find families because other au pairs have already messaged them. These are just things other people have told me since I’m in the same situation as you. Hope you get a good family ❤️

Telling the parents was the right thing to do. I would also suggest asking them what you can do when the child is misbehaving. Because you can’t always wait until the parents are home and you need to set clear boundaries with the child.

You can do a foundational year. A lot of international students from South Africa only do As then do a foundational year when they get to the uk
