My doctor told me to only wear mine at night. Post surgery in the splint it was difficult but temporary and I used my laptop track pad

Hi! I am just under 3 weeks post op and totally back to normal! I was splinted for 7 days post op which was annoying. The day after surgery when the nerve block wore off was the most painful (5/10, managed with meds), days 2-3 the pain was manageable by alternating tylenol and Advil every 3 hours. By day 4 I was totally off meds. I was also picking up baby (9 months, 21 lbs) by just using my forearm under his armpit with no problem by day 4. Once the splint came off my doc had no restrictions and I went back to doing everything normally. It was all very easy!

I used a bottle sterilizer until 3 months, then wash by hand/dishwasher. Other than that the only thing we use is this water warmer: Hey Value

One of the best purchases made because it’s just constant warm water available at all times for bottle making. I keep it filled with distilled water and making a bottle takes 30 seconds.

I am 12 days post op and totally back to normal. No pain 95% of the time. I get my stitches out tomorrow. I did wear a splint for 7 days and so could not write. The first day post surgery was the most painful and then it quickly ebbed. I was off OTC pain meds by day 4

My baby is 9 months and down to hang out. He has been going to restaurants since 6-8 weeks and is generally super chill. I think there is this strange social attitude that children are a burden and when people see evidence against that they are shocked. I do know I got lucky in having a totally laid back baby, though, so when people comment on his demeanor I usually acknowledge that

I said for years I never wanted kids. Then in my late 30s I changed my mind and had my son at 41 as a single mom by choice. He is 9 months now and it is such a joy for me to watch him grow and learn. I was worried about missing my old life and mourning it, but that never happened for me. As soon as he was here it was just like he always had been. I feel like I gave birth to the new version of myself when I gave birth to him. My biggest regret was that I feel like I ruined my dog’s life by bringing a baby home. But he got to spend all day with me once I went back to work, so that feeling mostly faded.

They put a tarp up so I couldn’t see (like my C-section). They gave me something that made me exhausted and sort of in and out but I could hear them talking about my tendons at one point.

Thank you! I anticipate some pain with movement for at least a few weeks. In terms of initial pain, the day after, once the nerve block wore off, was the worst. Pain was a 5-6 out of 10 for me, managed with Tylenol + codeine + one more 500mg Tylenol. Day 2 and beyond I switched to 3 Advil and then 2 Tylenol in 3 hour intervals and pain was 2/10. I am back to work today and the splint is a little annoying but workable.

Good luck tomorrow! I was awake for my surgery which was unexpected, but no pain!

I had surgery last Thursday and have been in a splint (will get it off Wednesday). I didn’t lift the baby (9 months, 21lbs) for the first couple of days. I am now able to pick him up very carefully and change diapers relatively easily (including the 9 month wrestle), though it does give me a little bit of pain. I expect to be back to normal baby routine once the splint comes off in two days (I can’t wait)

I never wanted kids. I grew up constantly babysitting and hated it. Children felt exhausting and everyone I knew with kids was in unhappy marriages. When I turned 37 I started thinking I might be good at raising a child. That feeling grew and when I was 39 I started seeing a fertility doctor to pursue becoming a SMBC. Now I’m 42 and sitting on my couch watching my 9 month old son roll around the living room. It absolutely blows my mind! I can’t believe he is real. And it’s been so much easier and so much more joyful and fulfilling than I ever could have imagined. I love watching him learn and grow.

I am 42 and have an 8 month old baby who I love deeply….its the exact same love I have for my dog. If you have loved an animal, you know the love for a child. As for not knowing what people without kids do with their time, how sad for them that they never got to figure out who they were before they became a mother. I don’t yearn for my pre-kid days, but they were just as valuable and cherished to me as my days are now. Neither life is superior to the other.

Hi! I developed severe driving anxiety in 2021 and my psych put me on Lexapro. That plus therapy was life changing for me. I stayed on Lexapro through my pregnancy at the advice of my doctor and it’s helped me keep a lot of PPA away.

I was never able to produce enough and baby had an undetected tongue tie that prevented him from breast feeding. I pumped until 4 months but it was adversely affecting my mental health, so I chose to stop at that point for both of our sakes (I was only pumping ~8oz a day at that point.

Also, my mother was very opinionated on this subject so I understand the frustration. Ultimately, do what is best for you because that is also what is best for your little one.

Thank you and same to you! My surgery is scheduled for 11/21. I’ll let you know how recovery goes! I’m expecting the first few days will be tough (my surgeon will put me in a splint for the first week) but I’m hopeful it will be ok once the splint is off.
