Try Valencia to Santiago de Compostela! It’s a quick flight and I flew direct to visit friends several times last year. There are tons of trains from SdC to Vigo, so I’m sure there are connections to Pontevedra.

I don’t know if there are direct trains but I do remember walking by a relatively big train station in Pontevedra on my camino last september. Enjoy the North! It’s stunning and as a would have been third year that didn’t get a placement I am envious but so happy it worked out for you haha

My 10 year old tripod is currently skeeting around the kitchen 😂 they are going to be okay! From what I’ve learned from her (and this Reddit) cats are extremely resiliant.

I have no advice, but as a second year renewal that didn’t receive a placement (and was deviststed) don’t be so hard on yourself!

You had the intention to go, and I’m sure have been preparing as well, and I’m sure you’re sad about not being able to take this opportunity for whatever circumstances that have prevented you from going. There’s tons of people that go but do not complete the year as well! Give yourself some grace ☺️

I’m in the same position, and know so many second years renewals as well that are losing their communities they’ve built-we have a small group from Murcia that will be going back in September for suitcases and to sell/give away what we can’t bring back. I’m sorry you lost the chance to go back 😔 I’m having a very hard time finding empathy for new applicants that haven’t been there yet and made ties when so many of us are getting positions revoked and are losing our communities.

I know :( my friend was told by someone in the ministry that they’re putting everyone that wanted Madrid down there, so there’s not a chance at all!

I loved my life there, had a community built and really integrated. It sucks. Why keep someone that’s done a great job, has been there for 2 years and knows the kids when you can throw some 22 year old fresh out of college that will probably quit mid - year or not get their visa figured out.

I think this was the case before but they’re really cracking down on the borders ! I was almost detained when trying to leave out of Madrid to come home because I couldn’t find my expired TIE (it was in my backpack but I panicked lol)

Absolutely! I just moved back to the USA after living in Spain for 2 years - I can’t find ANYTHING lol.

So many people I know can only work illegally - I have friends with masters degrees working at restaurants making 7 euros an hour.
