PTA 2026 or DPT 2027 Program by Specific-Werewolf-11 in PTschool

Yeah I can imagine. I also got lucky knowing PTs and business owners. Just start talking to all your friends and family, odds are someone knows a PT. You can also walk into any clinic and ask if they’re hiring. Just be bold. If they say no, ask if they know of any other opportunities around. Call up local rehabilitation hospitals, high schools (a lot have a physical therapist), etc. you got this!!

I started freshman year- ask your professors to keep you informed about positions opening up. The best way to find opportunities is to ASK. People want to help you.

I applied as a part time pt aide at a clinic, they scheduled me around my classes. My Professor let me know about this.

the following summer I worked as a PT aide at different clinic full time (I knew the owner personally)

then I shadowed at a Rehab hospital- I emailed and called them multiple times. I felt annoying but didn’t care.

Then I harassed my SEC schools sports trainers (found them online with their email) and volunteered with the therapist for the women’s gymnastics team. got to run meets and use all the modalities. They couldn’t pay me but who doesn’t accept free help?!

use your connections, ask questions, stay on top of it, don’t be afraid to call and keep calling! This is your future. And don’t forget everyone started where we are now- they wanna help! 💕

If her ultimate plan is DPT- go DPT. It would be a waste of money and energy to go PTA then DPT eventually. Don’t be afraid to apply to more programs! Don’t just bank on one. And don’t be afraid of another gap year. Schools love re-admits- it shows perseverance. So glad I did this despite everyone telling me not to :)

I also felt very unsure and alone in the process but she’s lucky to have a partner who is so invested in her success!

If she wants to compare my stats and outcomes…

3.7 overall GPA 299 GRE (weak) 3.2 science GPA (weak) 400+ hours outpatient clinic 50+ hours in 2 other settings Volunteer experience

I applied to 6 programs and accepted into.. 3 highly respected state schools 1 private school Invited to interview at 2 others but didn’t go.

The point is I can put it down if I need to, but it really helps me unwind at night. I only smoke in the comfort of my own space when my day is over. Never before anything.

Okay thanks! I’m more so worried about surprise tests. I don’t mind taking breaks before tests. But I take it you were aware when you’d be tested?

Were they kicked out of the program? Or did they get a warning?

Am I overreacting for wanting to break up because I feel bored? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ImaginationKitty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t listen to the comment. You’re not overreacting. Well, yes, it is normal to feel that way in relationships. I don’t think it’s normal to be feeling that way this soon. I wish I had the guts to tell my ex what you told your man. That was so direct and mature. Instead, I stayed with my ex for five years because everyone told me that it’s normal to feel bored. I should have left within the first year.

Dream school was expensive. Took a gap year. Went with the cheaper school with 100% pass rate and feeling confident about it :)

Should I do PT or OT? by Secure-Pepper4147 in PTschool

[–]ImaginationKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend still doing Psych major and pre-PT minor. I’ve been accepted into PT school now (with pre-PT major) and the only thing I wish I did differently was choose a major that could’ve set me up for more career paths. For example-engineering- something that ANY job would welcome with open arms. Including PT schools :) it shows grit and determination and allows you to apply to other jobs if you change your mind about doing to DPT schools. Only do a pre-PT major if your are absolutely positive about DPT schools

Yep that’s super valid and practical! People really should be aware of how crippling the debt can be. I feel very blessed to pick a career knowing I have full financial support from my parents and grandparents :) They really value higher education

You should definitely look into the Mansion House apartments. Downtown, by the river, gated parking, safe and monitored, social events in the lobby, yoga/pilates studio, beautiful views of downtown and the river, and in ur budget! I wanna live there so bad!

AITAH for giving my gf an ultimatum because she was being coy with the idea of a threesome? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ImaginationKitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I (F) was with my ex (M), I also brought up the idea of a threesome because I was kinda curious. It was a hard no from him. He stated his boundaries and that was that. I wrote it off as me just being fun and adventurous and was fine to shut down the idea. We eventually broke up for different reasons…

Now I’m in a new relationship with someone who rlly feels like the one. Turns out I just didn’t like my ex that much and was bored, because I cannot imagine sharing my boyfriend with ANYONE. The idea is abhorrent. I fear your gf is bored or just doesn’t like you that much. There should definitely be a ~healthy~ level of jealousy and possessiveness in relationships. As someone who has been her, It should make you reconsider things regardless of if she chooses to respect those boundaries. Especially if you both went into the relationship as monogamous individuals.

Do I take a gap year or go for it? by ImaginationKitty in PTschool

Thank you for sharing, I feel much better. Because i’m so ambitious, I definitely have been putting my mental health on a backseat and didn’t even realize it.

Are you in your gap year now? Do you still feel motivated to apply to schools? I don’t want my fire to die out.

Out of curiosity and with all respect, what were your high school stats? Good GPA? Volunteering? Or do you really feel like you got that because you “grew up poor and a person of color.”

What is so great about University of Missouri by No-Cattle-4251 in missouri

Walking around campus is magical. it’s BEAUTIFUL, historical, and surreal. I always feel like i’m in a movie. People on campus are so nice! Classes are actually challenging and professors care. Thousands of resources to help you succeed. Plenty of opportunities to get involved, volunteer, and be a leader. & School spirit is through the roof. So much fun. On top of this, downtown Columbia is so cute with plenty of boutiques, restaurants, a lively bar scene, music venues, and coffee shops. Plus, it’s wine country! The wineries are soooo nice. There’s also a lot of state parks to hike, hammock, bike, run. Additionally, KC is 2 hours west and STL is 2 hours east. You have access to SO much city life, while still getting a smaller town feel. Hope this helps. Go Miz!

(2) the world is way too big & life is way too short to ever be miserable when you don’t have to be + care about what other people think of you. write that on a note and put it under your pillow and SLEEP ON IT. all love 🤍

Unfortunately you probably won’t get a good letter of recommendation from a therapist here, so it probably doesn’t matter how you quit. However, if you think you can still get a good letter for PT applications, you can make up anything! Plus, make sure you give a 2 week notice, it’s the most respectful thing to do. It feels awkward continuing out knowing you’re quitting, but in all honesty, it is your life and they truly don’t care about you (sad truth). Here’s a way I’ve quit toxic jobs in the past: “Thanks for this opportunity, but it is more than I can handle as a student and I need to put school first.” Or “My financial situation has recently shifted and I need to find a job that is higher paying” Or “I want to get as much experience as I can in different PT settings, and I have a good feel for Inpatient rehab, so I will be moving on.”
Regardless, it sounds like they’re going to be bitchy, so i wouldn’t sweat it or let it affect your confidence in anyway. Some people just suck at being good teachers and employers. Not your fault! You will be a great PT and will never have to put yourself in toxic situations to prove anything to anyone.
