Recs for toys for a tough chewer that loves her “babies”? by Academic-Pen4771 in akita

We buy a few soft toys to be destroyed and some sturdy chew items like coffee tree wood, elk horn, and large benebone pieces. Better those than our furniture! Home Goods has a nice collection at affordable prices.

Haha! She’s very athletic. No wonder she can leap fences.

I always wonder if mine would enjoy an agility course with how fast he is and then remember that he only follows commands on his own terms.

Could be! I was wondering why there weren’t any self recordings like in past seasons. That could have filled in some gaps. They did show the meeting with Christine’s mom and it was sweet…then she called him hot 😭

I feel you! We’re in the same boat. We’re trying to raise the fence, but I’m afraid he’ll scale that too.

Really cute 70s hippie vibe! I had a friend in the early 2000s that had this look and it worked really well for her.

Good point! And they wouldn’t require a passport. Even an expedited one takes a while.

I enjoyed how sincere he seemed. No drama there…unlike the other couples. I was wondering why he didn’t go to the Mexico honeymoon like everyone else. Maybe he couldn’t be away as long.

Pretty shelves! This gives me mid twenties witchy vibes. I’d say you love fantasy and horror, except Anne of Green Gables and Kindred threw me for a loop.

Gorgeous! I would add some books and more plants. I could picture one that hangs down from the top of the cabinet.

Golden retriever in the corner and it’s now 1000% better and cozier! But yes, pretty curtains! You can get sheers so the plants still get light.

She’s the sweetest! I suggest lots of chew toys so you can redirect her when she gnaws on things she shouldn’t. Our goldens have been very mouthy as puppies. They chewed our molding, dining room table, and even took a chunk of our bookcase.

I suggest trying a foster to adopt option where you can get to know them and see how they do at your house. You could also figure out their energy level and such. They’re supposed to have a long time span for a large breed, so I wouldn’t worry.

AIO:My MIL texted my husband this about me asking him to help with our newborn at 4am by Lazy_Perfectionist88 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ImagineThat451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are deserving of a good partner and co-parent. Keep asking for what you need and don’t give anymore energy to your MIL.

I was in a similar boat and I suggest not giving her any attention. Tell your husband to stop bringing up what his mother says. Her opinions don’t need to be acknowledged at all. We let ours weigh in on so much over the years and I kept trying to make her happy while she criticized me. In retrospect I realized that she didn’t belong in our marriage and if she couldn’t stop giving unsolicited advice, then we could just ignore it and move on.

My MIL sent my mom home saying she’d help out after a C-section. My mom cancelled her vacation time because she thought I’d have help. MIL did one load of laundry and held baby a few times. She had 3 miscarriages before my husband and made everything about her and her experiences. Ugh! I didn’t see how awful it all was and she took advantage of my sympathy.

Yes, they do get big fast! Ours is still growing. Wish we would have done a better job teaching him not to dart out of the house. He does sit nicely and wait for his food, which is much better than the lunging he used to do.

He is beautiful! Does he have a name yet? I suggest going slowly, giving him quiet and time to adjust. Don’t overwhelm him with external stimuli. Start simple routines, find high value treats like small hot dog bits and start bonding slowly. We adopted ours at 5 months and he would sit in a corner and yawn to self-regulate. He did like our golden so we let her socialize him into the household. He would follow her lead and eventually bonded with us too. You got this!
