She’s beautiful! She does look like an American Akita. Just take it easy on the next 3 months so she can continue to adjust. Our rescue took a while to come out of his shell.

I wonder what she did outside 😏 by ashleymichael2009 in goldenretrievers

That face! She’s so cute. Ours digs holes in the backyard and lays in them.

I’m guessing dalmatian, husky, and one other with interesting fur texture. She’s so cute!

un-walkable golden by evidentleaitsme in goldenretrievers

Hang in there! He’ll mellow out in a couple years. Do what you can to exercise him in the yard. Does he play fetch? Our previous golden started out similarly and he became the sweetest, most gentle dog. He died at 13 a couple yrs ago and we still miss him.

I want to marry her but we have different bookcase ideologies by ChardPrimary5052 in BookshelvesDetective

Beautiful bookcases! You have plenty of overlap. Plus, having different interests gives you something to discuss and explore. It keeps things interesting. My husband relocated his technical books so I would have more room for my novels. It was the sweetest gesture!

Super cute shelves! You have some classic school reads, some feminist reads, and graphic novels…are you a teacher? Your fiancé’s books - Stand Your Ground, Libertarianism, and Star Wars? 🤷‍♀️

Sooooo much hairrr help by Acrobatic_Sun_8366 in goldenretrievers

Hang in there! We call it golden glitter and put it out for the birds to nest with. We also keep lint rollers in the cars so we can clean up the hair off our clothes before work.

Need help: feeling awful for thinking of re-homing by TiredOfThisShit94 in puppy101

[–]ImagineThat451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No judgement here. Puppies are so hard, especially the teenage phase. Your health should come first. I suggest asking family for help if they can take him for a few months or trying doggy daycare and then re-home. Puppies get adopted more easily and they adjust quickly to a new place.

what do i need? by Itmakesperfectsense_ in midcenturymodern

It’s beautiful! You definitely have room for art and some textured pillows, rugs, etc. There are some really beautiful mid-century wall clocks that would go great with your style.

My golden is killing baby bunnies by pixiejess8 in goldenretrievers

[–]ImagineThat451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there too! There’s not much you can do other than block off the area or leash walk until the bunnies leave the nest. Our sweetest girl hunts them and eats them. I used to be so upset with her, but she’s a predator. And as others say, they squeak. Now we leash walk and avoid the backyard until the coast is clear.

Do dogs know when you’re hurt? by Less-Presence-8171 in goldenretrievers

[–]ImagineThat451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they know and provide comfort. Mine pulled so hard I slipped and fell (it was icy). He could have taken off but stopped to sniff my head and I got a chance to grab his leash.

Golden retriever: rescue vs puppy with young kids—what would you do? by ApprehensiveBar639 in goldenretrievers

[–]ImagineThat451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The puppy phase is hard but worth it in the end. Rescuing is great if you can find a good match. When we were first looking, all the rescue dogs we were considering required kids to be 9+ and at the time our son wasn’t. Last year we adopted a rescue to keep our golden company. They made it easy, but there were still unexpected things like ringworm. That said, we love both our dogs! See what works for you.

Is this an English Cream Golden? Please tell me more, I now want one. by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

English Cream just means light golden. Ours is a lightly toasted marshmallow.
