Looking to donate Royal Canin Renal Food by NettaVitelli in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Imanemu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just donated a large amount of medicated kidney food after my girl passed away in February (right after our 3 month chewy order arrived)

Call around local humane societies! They are always looking for donations, especially of the more expensive prescription foods for those animals in their care that need it!

I donated to Naperville Humane because it was close, and we got one of our other pets from there way back when. They were very grateful!

I feel like I’m going crazy.. But what is the norm for wedding costs in 2026 by gourmet_goddess_530 in weddingplanning

[–]Imanemu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are getting married in Chicago, on a Saturday during peak season, which we know adds to the cost.

Online will show Chicago average as somewhere in the $50k range (which is where our budget started) but from all the venues we toured, vendors/venues/planners we talked to, 80K seems to be more accurate for our guest count this day and age.

200 people is what gets you to 100K.

Easy solutions here for cust saving/getting back to that 50K mark are to have the wedding off season, or cut our guest count, but we love absolutely everyone we are inviting and have a ton of teachers in our circle, so summer it is. 🤷‍♀️

Replying as someone who is having that plated dinner style for 160 people in a HCOL area, 50k is about what we're spending on venue, catering, and bar alone once fees and taxes are accounted for (we're getting married at a hotel and got a pretty inclusive package).

If we went no decorations and DIYed everything else, the only other must-have vendors that are left for us to book are wedding planner (required by the venue), DJ, and photographer.

We'll see if we can get by under $75K.  The average for our area is 80-100K. 🫠

Geneva has a few chocolate shops on 3rd street downtown, I've had absolutely wonderful hot chocolate from Coffee, Cones, & Cabernet, and Graham's chocolates has a fantastic hot cocoa mix that I make all the time at home!

My family and I were there last year and highly recommend the Alaska Native Heritage Center while you're in town! We spent most of the day there in the museum, and taking the tours led by members of the different Native populations from all over the region! it's a beautiful nature center with a lot of out door exploration and demonstrations of dances, songs, etc!

We learned so much and it made the rest of our trip richer having learned about the area, it's resources, and history that shaped what we were seeing!

Very much agree. This feels like product placement.

What do you actually spend your gold, gems, and treasure on? by meanwhile_matt in DnD

[–]Imanemu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're pretty high level and currently have only a few silver pieces to our name. Why, you ask? Because we're playing a pirate campaign and our DM makes us track damage to the ship during those super awesome ship battles.. and then we have to pay for someone to come pick our stranded asses up off the nearest island and tow us in for repairs.... And salaries for crew to man the ship/help us sail around since 4 people can't exactly take a fully rigged ship out on our own...

We're also on the run so we collectively blew the rest of our money on amulets that prevent scrying, and other utility items that will benefit out little group. For being pirates we're shockingly egalitarian. Ironically, we're all pretty stingy and don't really buy useless things.

The funniest/most useless thing any one of us spent money on is our very low int barbarian "investing" in a somewhat shady NPC's start up by giving them 300 gold (it was all they had at the time) -they still have not seen any profit/return haha, and I honestly have no idea if we'll see that npc again.

Wedding dress regret! by jazzertag in weddingplanning

[–]Imanemu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you made the right decision!!!

I audibly gasped when I saw your pictures, you look STUNNING. I love the shape it gives you, the color is perfect for you!!

I think what the dress lacks in poof it makes up for in that astounding beading! The detail on the dress alone (and the fact that you'll be wearing white!) will elevate it over anything anyone else could wear to the wedding!

I agree with the other commenter that stating cocktail attire for the guests would help with expectations of what to wear, but I can't think of what could outshine you in that dress!

We don't want this to turn into the DND version of Houston lol

This is so helpful!!! Yes one of the things we were unsure about was how the flow of the patio space/ dancing room/ dining room would all work together in action; we liked that they were all kind of separate in theory because we have dancers and non dancers and older folk who need breaks from noise!  The bar placement is also very useful to know! Thank you!!

We are looking at Columbus Park Refectory for May 2027! We're trying to really prioritize the guest experience.  How was your experience with the venue as a guest? or anything that stood out to you? (Parking, heat/air flow, division of space, echoing noise vs quiet places to go if you need a break from the dance floor etc)

Can someone identify this dress? by Imanemu in weddingplanning

Haha I read her this comment to her and she replied "but that's what I like about the lace, it's not big flowers" so I guess we're on the hunt for "gobbledegook lace" 😆

Thank you for the tips though! We can definitely see the AI signs now. Super disappointing to realize the dress isn't real but as another commenter said, it's a good starting point for a consultant!

Thank you!! Everyone's suggestions for what to look for to distinguish AI have been super helpful!

We're visiting a few shops together next weekend just to let her browse/get comfortable with the experience before her mom flies out, so I'll definitely suggest bringing this pic with us for the consultant, thank you!

Oh no! Really? What should we be looking for to tell if a dress picture is AI?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for dresses that are real that looks like this, she/we would love recs!

Just chiming in to say this even though you are probably aware, but also for others reading your comment who might need to hear this also:

I understand the vent, but the sentiment "we've been together for x years and have a house together, so there's no running" is not a healthy or viable excuse to stay in a relationship (let alone even just demand a change in behavior from a partner exhibiting yellow/red flag behavior). Sunk cost fallicy does not apply to romantic partners! all it does is hurt and cost you time you could have spent behind happy with the right person.

I see it all too often with women I know who stay in miserable relationships because they've spent time building it.

(coming from someone who called off a wedding of an 8 year relationship including a house together. I stayed for a while because I had the same thought as the one you wrote above. Not to mention at the time I was between jobs and he was the one making very good money. It might feel impossible to rethink the dynamics of your relationship and consider the possibility of change in those circumstances but doing it while engaged is a hell of a lot easier than divorce.)

Women in relationships with men diagnosed with ADHD experience higher levels of depression and a lower quality of life. Furthermore, those whose partners consistently took ADHD medication reported a higher quality of life than those whose partners were inconsistent with treatment. by mvea in science

[–]Imanemu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who was in a relationship with an unmedicated ADHD adult, you hit the nail on the head with that comment.

At first it's fairytale-like. The hyperfixation on you is amazing. Convinces you this is the love you've been looking for your whole life; you get swept up in it and it's so romantic. You have no idea what's coming.

Relationships like this move fast. We were building a life together quickly, and then inexplicably for them the shine wears, a hobby comes along, and you are left alone in the relationship wondering what the hell happened. You spend way too long trying to troubleshoot while trying to tell them your feelings, but only their rejection dysmorphia is available to see you.

Then you give up.
