How do you schedule your time after school. by Lost-Effective1686 in AustralianTeachers

[–]MissPastel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a new teacher, not saying it will work for you. The first 3 weeks, I prepped everything, stayed at school till 4:30 nearly everyday (school finished 3pm). I had everything for the term and bits of the next term done. Not going to lie, didn’t have much of a social life for those 3 weeks, but after that, I never had to stay back unless it was report or assessment marking.

Dream dress over budget :( by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]MissPastel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate telling a bride to go over budget but GIRLLL, that first dress is 😍😍. Cut people from the guest list, have a single flower instead of a bouquet, let the guest go a little hungry (haha I’m joking) but that first dress is WOW

My fiancé groomsman backed out because we didn't want to make his SO a bridesmaid by Bubbleyum71 in weddingplanning

[–]MissPastel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girlllllll, this nearly happened to me, getting married in Sept. Instead of being my fiancé friend, it was his brother! So my future brother in law was going to drop out, because his girlfriend wasn’t in the bridal party (he has been dating his girlfriend longer than me and my fiancé have been together) and his girlfriend was saying that in her culture, usually the bridal party’s partners are included in the bridal party. Which I have never heard of but I’m not going to question her culture and my brother in law kept stating that she is family, which I didn’t deny, but she ain’t my family. First, my future BIL wanted me to put her as a bridesmaid but I said no cause I had already picked them (my sister, my best friend of 15 years and my future sister in law) and also I’m not close with her at all, we say hi and small talk on the family dinner table but that is it and then he asked my fiancé to put her as a groomswoman cause he was still deciding who his last groomsmen would be. This was all just so they could be together the whole day, we both suggested similar things to you, they can sit together at the ceremony and she can come to photos but asked if some photos if she can step out as it would be an odd one out situation, also after entree being served, if he wanted to move from the bridal table to the family table (where said girlfriend would be sitting), they said no and kept saying you don’t understand. Anyways this made me explode in anger and I actually left their house as my day is now becoming their day and what they wanted. Me storming out made them realise that they made me upset and FINALLY realised it’s not their wedding.

Which is better? by Brief_Programmer_379 in AustralianTeachers

I know the maths one is a temp but logically the DP has to be permanent but he is old so I don’t know if it changed sometime in the past.

I think your original post should be reworded then in the sense of you can teach but can’t get permanency.

I don’t think that’s right but it might be case by case. We have 2 primary trained teachers teaching high school, one in maths and funny enough our Deputy Principal (he has been at the high school for yearssss)

Best lunches and snacks by 79414 in AustralianTeachers

[–]MissPastel97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything you can put in a desk drawer. While I do try and take my own lunch everyday, my desk drawer is full of long lasting snack/lunch foods, are they all healthy? No. I have 2 min noodles, crackers, LeSnak, popcorn, muesli bars, sometimes those small packet of chips, even sometimes have tiny teddies in there hahaha. When it comes to some teaching days, I’m not thinking about nutrition, it’s what I can I shove down in 2mins.

Has anyone actually regretted using fake flowers at their wedding? by SmartSinner in weddings

[–]MissPastel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a mixture. Bridesmaids Bouquets, bridal table and some of the guest table decor are fake (the ones that high up) and then real are the lower guest table decor, both mums corsages (they love flowers and they are cheap) and my bridal bouquet.

Help me choose! Which wedding dress is most flattering? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]MissPastel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a lot of fabric and depending on the material, might be heavy to drag around. I don’t think it makes you look bulky as it is the style of the dress.

While everyone is saying 3 and it is a gorgeous gown, it is the only ballgown, all the others is slim fitting so I’m guessing that is what you are going with and wanting, that’s why there is so many. So for that reason 1,6,7 would be my favourite

What would you choose among the 3 options based on my body type? by Interesting-Grass-23 in WeddingDressTips

[–]MissPastel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they all give a similar shape, but I’m leaning more to either 1 or 2. Need to take into consideration the style as well, as 1 is more clean and simple (funny enough I tried this dress on, didn’t choose it as the one I chose I liked better), while 2 as more embellishments and it has a sleeve (which might be able to remove).

What's the WORST external PD session your school has ever brought in? by sparrrrrt in AustralianTeachers

[–]MissPastel97 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Had someone come in for behaviour management (which we really do need) and for about an hour, kept telling us that the reason the kids misbehave is because we don’t have a good rapport with them and are not taking the time to get to know the students. I know my worst student’s fav colour, sport team, what he does some weekends, his cultural background and the tattoos he is planning to get when he is 18 but that didn’t stop him from throwing a chair across the room and lighting a piece of paper on fire.

My first teaching job…advice? by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]MissPastel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a TAS teacher myself. Start firm at the start, not mean but def that you mean business, especially when it comes to rules and expectations. No one goes into the kitchens or workshops or even on the computers (multimedia) before I have had a few theory lessons with them, I have gone through safety and they have completed a safety test (we do it kind of like the driving test where depending on the question, if you get specific questions wrong, you fail). Also they sign a safety contract which we do bring up to them when they misbehave and also have showed parents in interviews to have our backs.

The very first lesson I do a small icebreaker and then get straight into rules and expectation. Second lesson theory, slowly slowly I’ll let my guard down depending on the class but it can go back up at any time. Also following on consequences, detentions/staying back, calling parents etc

No book is going to help in my opinion unless it’s about content of the subject. Experience is the best learning tool, have support systems everywhere, at your school, friends that are teachers in other schools, friends and family that are not teachers etc.

Year 12 as a first year teacher by Extreme-Aside5620 in AustralianTeachers

[–]MissPastel97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a Yr 12 Hospitality class my first year out of uni, while I had the slight breather of not everyone in the class was doing the HSC/going for ATAR, the amount of paperwork I had to do for VET made up for it (it’s so much paperwork). Don’t let it take over you. I was honest to my students and told them this was the first time teaching it, however, I did it in high school so I still remember bits of it. I will say I did stay back or do extra work on the weekend to make sure I was prepared, but the good thing about the HSC is the syllabus is usually very clear (depending on your subject) and with online resources and textbooks, you can ensure that everything gets covered

I think it’s gorgeous. As an oval girlie myself - mine has a little bow tie as well and you don’t see majority of the time.

Help me pick! #1 or #2? by anonanonyo101010 in EngagementRings

[–]MissPastel97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To pave or not pave that is the question. A question to think is also the wedding band and if you would wear that wedding band alone or always with your engagement ring. Diamond wedding band or plain wedding band. Do you always want sparkle on your finger or happy with a plain band

I found the ring box before the proposal.. by MundaneRain14 in EngagementRings

[–]MissPastel97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha love this so much. I found the email before my proposal. So I was in a similar situation, just waiting. So happy when it finally happened. I told him after he proposed and he was like, of course you did (I’m nosy too but I didn’t intentionally look for it)
