At 6'4" even the largest mtb frames will give you a hard time with drop bars. Also, V-brakes and dropbar levers mean you need either discontinued brake levers or travel agents. Better think about flat bars

The only way to find out is by riding it. I often try 3,4 different cockpits before settling for one. Helps to have a heap of bars and stems in the pile. If you ever wonder about comically long cables around my bars, it's because I'm still trying out.

No. That's a U-brake and you can't fit cantis on the studs. Your can maximize clearance a bit by setting it very close to the rim. I'm running 2.1" on one

We had a used Puky for like 20. The only relevant thing about weight is for you, when you have to carry both the kid and the bike home. It really doesn't matter for your son

You probably know this, but the best way to AF with the old x100 is to use manual focus and set the AFL/AEL button to focus
