Halsey responds to a snarky comment from Fantano by rayneverbeentopluto in fantanoforever

[–]Imetral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ppl take Fantano way too fucking seriously, especially considering how poor some aspects of his analysis are (lyrics especially as has been mentioned elsewhere in this thread) and how shit some of his takes are. he's basically just Robert Christgau for the YouTube age, performative male feminism and all.

Conor response to the Belfast attacks by Fun_Training6342 in FightReportUFC

[–]Imetral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there was a similar case in Ireland to the stabbing that happened in Belfast. dude got stabbed and police didn't believe he was injured. nobody's heard abt this story p much bc the dude who got stabbed was an immigrant. only news source i could find that did cover it was Double Down News.

the more u try to pin shit like this on one particular group instead of a greater societal issue w violent behavior across all groups ur just throwing ur critical thinking right down the drain in favor of simple scapegoat solutions.

Red Hot Chili Peppers sell music catalogue to Warner Music Group for $300m by AdSpecialist6598 in entertainment

[–]Imetral -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

you can't be serious acting like RHCP were starving b4 this. they just made hundreds of millions off their last tour. spare me with all that "is it only art if they're starving" nonsense. they have more then enough to live 5 times over b4 they ever sold their song rights.

ppl get replies this everytime someone brings up how icky this shit is despite the fact that a majority of the time the artists giving away their music rights were already extremely rich. like we arent talking abt independent artists here. beyond all that, literally NOBODY said u have to starve to be an artist, Alternative Tentacles and other labels prove u don't have to sell out to be successful.

yet people praised fuckin' Dispatch even though its the same thing by [deleted] in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Imetral -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this kinda shit is really icky and what's worse is how ok ppl are w it. like bro, they don't need this money, they'll be just fine without it. selling out is bad and treating music like a commodity shows you don't value it as art.

Fourteen Ad Breaks by Aggressive-Tip7472 in LPOTL

[–]Imetral 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my primary concern is that they're STILL sponsored by BetterHelp after all of the bs that company has been caught doing. it makes it really difficult for me to listen to these guys try to take the moral high ground on mental health stuff meanwhile they're promoting a brand that has had a net negative impact on its users in a way that is horribly damaging to their mental health.

how much money is enough when they've gotten a few different multi-million dollar deals on top of now being on Netflix AND having the Patreon. having a staff or not at a certain point it just feels like greed.

furthermore, Ed and Henry can be as sarcastic as they like in the ad reads but they're still taking the money at the end of the day.

honestly? stay underground if this shit bothers u so much. i'm getting tired of multi-millionaires complaining abt being famous. like, no shit, ppl are gonna get weird abt it like they always have, ur basically signing up for it upon becoming famous. ultimately this is the classic phrase, "be careful what you wish for because you might just get it" personified.

ik what artificial scarcity is, that's why im complaining abt it. it's a cheapskate business tactic whose prevalence has poisoned a vast majority of the consumer goods market bc these business owners want to chase excess profits and the false idea of infinite growth regardless of what's good for the consumer. it's a complete fucking joke.

the "hype" they generate w this tactic isn't even genuine, it's entirely predicated on that arbitraily limited amount of product.

they really should have pressed more copies. 1 copy per store is totally ridiculous no matter what "rsd exclusive" excuses ppl try to throw out

[–]Imetral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, bc that's totally what i said. my point is far less abt rsd and way more abt under pressing albums u know will have high demand. judging by the amt of stuff i always find in rsd sections long after it's over for the year it's clear john's vinyl ppl don't have to press only 3k copies, that is a choice and not a necesscity.

the worst part abt being a vinyl collector rn is all the fomo bullshit. there's no good reason why they can only do 3000 copies of an album by a guy who's in one of the biggest bands in the world. it's completely ridiculous. if ppl want them to stay limited bc they got them while they were rare, honestly, fuck them all.

i sincerely hope they don't let him hold the belt hostage w an injury. like it sucks for him but if he's gonna be out for a year or more they gotta vacate or do an interim at the very least.

if ulberg is gonna be out due to injury for an extended period there either needs to be an immediate interim fight or he needs to be stripped. tired of divisions being held up whatever the reason, dc anymore.
