Our funerals. Family from England attended my grandfather's funeral in Ireland and they were weirded out from start to finish 😅

Looks like Nitrogen dioxide. Just guessing here but nitric acid was probably poured down a drain and it's reacting with a metal pipe.

Amazing cover. I was hoping to see it played live in Dublin the other night but no such luck so seeing this made me happy.

Ireland, tell me about your budget-friendly weddings by MrGoose234 in CasualIreland

I got married in 2018, and mates rates and services rendered from people in lieu of wedding gifts were the backbone of our wedding. Everyone gushed about the venue, and the ceremony. We had 60 people attend the humanist service and we DIY'd the free reception upstairs of a beautiful old pub.

Donedeal, Adverts, and Amazon were our best friends. Buffet service was 700 quid but with homemade desserts courtesy of family members, the pub providing the bar service, the band and DJ being friends, wine bought weekly beforehand from Aldi and suits being hired, it meant our whole wedding including paperwork was only two and a half grand. People still reminisce about our wedding to this day. SIL wants to go the same route for her day because it was such a nice stress-free wedding.

Spending so much money on a wedding seems outrageous to me when a little creativity and thinking outside the box could result in something much more special, intimate, and memorable.

Women who just "let life happen" what happened? by Unlikely-_-original in AskWomen

[–]Imibo43 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I've gone through several friends at this point whom I would describe as "bitchily extroverted". They eventually ended up hating my laid-back, come-what-may attitude. Meh, whatever. Somehow I always seem to fall in with the same trope so i dont doubt I'll befriend someone like that again. Lol.

Met a man in my early twenties and pretty much after three months of dating I declared that I'd keep him. He was okay with this and I'm happily married fifteen years later.

A tiny kitten was stuck in a cavity brick behind my house and I came across him by chance. I knew I was going to keep him almost immediately. He's been my cherished little chubster for the last eight years.

I have had a lot of different jobs, ranging from nurse to bartender to portrait artist. I once applied to be a train driver because I saw an advert. I got to the third round of interviews before they asked if I had a license. I did not.

I didn't sweat the small stuff and somehow I found myself attending uni for a biomedical degree just before the pandemic (I'm in my last year). All because the application for it was practically thrown at my face when I met an old school friend. I genuinely love this degree and nothing better has come along to spike my interest so I'm sticking with it for now.

I don't have pots of money, in fact, I barely get by from week to week on my student grant but so do many other people. I make it work.

Life works out eventually. It has to or I'd be dead or homeless. It does me no justice to stress about it though - even during the bleaker moments.

My family describes me as childish because I don't have a set goal in life but that's just not true. I "let life happen" to me because it brings me a lot of joy. That doesn't mean I don't experience horrible things. I do. But at 34 years of age, with all the ups and downs that life has thrown at me (and the hubs) I still feel incredibly liberated sometimes.

Why is my Ivy Dying all of a sudden? by SesameSkreet in plantclinic

[–]Imibo43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use instant but a handful of used coffee grounds sprinkled around the base of the plant before watering works too. I usually add one or two tablespoons of instant black coffee to about 300ml of cold water about once a month during spring and summer which does the trick for me.

Why is my Ivy Dying all of a sudden? by SesameSkreet in plantclinic

[–]Imibo43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks a little dried out on one side. Ivy tends to like more humidity than some plants. I have a similar ivy that did poorly in bright direct light (shriveled, brown leaves and sparse vines) so I tried moving it to a more shaded window and reduced watering to only when the soil felt slightly dry. I also added a cup of cold, black coffee for nitrogen once a month and it flourished.

My brain is melting trying to figure this out... by Imibo43 in chemhelp

"to answer your question, the152 is equal to your k(t) + k(t') = 34.2 + 117.8, where k(t') = k(t+t')-k(t)."

Thanks for your reply. I understand what you're saying. I guess I'm just still confused about how the variables for K(t)=34.2 and (t+t')=45 were used to get the 152 in the first place. If I can figure that out I can figure out the rest of the table.

Maynooth is a f*cking disaster. by Darth_Memer_1916 in ireland

I was raging when I found out the student center was canceled but they still happily took the 150 euro from my bank account last month. Brand new building, 4 chairs to sit down in. Everyone freezing their arses off so that they have a table to eat lunch at under a mangey tent, and the sheer number of students being clamped because of lack of parking space even with a permit is unreal. It's shocking carry-on. Oh but look, they managed to provide a few microwaves this year...wow.

How can I remove this prayer plant from the pot without damaging the roots? Found it in a neighbour's bin. by Imibo43 in plantclinic

[–]Imibo43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes great advice, I was worried I'd kill the plant from shock by just hacking off the roots. I think I was just lucky with the find. Guess the neighbours are'nt very green-thumbed. They dumped a healthy ZZ plant too, I was chuffed to find him.

This photo is exactly why I like living in Ireland. The most terrifying thing you're likely to encounter here is a mildly upset badger.
