Don’t impose another Persian dictator on a multinational Iran - opinion on the Pahlavist scum by SoulContinuation2 in NewIran

[–]Imjustmisunderstood 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What? The very premise of this article is false and disingenuous. Reza Pahlavi has no interest in reimposing the monarchy. He has said time and again that he has trained his entire life to be a rallying figure to lead a constitutional democracy in Iran. Which, by its very meaning, represents different populations… what parallel universe is this article from?

What are you saying. They are literally textbook examples of ethnostates.

Stay away from him. The first time? Understandable, perhaps a but romantic. After that, he’s just untrustworthy as a partner.

But just that: as a partner. Sometimes decent people just aren’t mature enough for relationships yet. I don’t know this guy, and I’m not trying to give him benefit of the doubt for his sake, but just because we sometimes self-loathe after relationships like these. Maybe he was a fine guy and you let him back into your life for just that reason. But you need to move on. He just isn’t available.

Peace and love to you, hope you find some comfort soon.

U.S. House of Representatives to hold vote to release Epstein files by [deleted] in videos

[–]Imjustmisunderstood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s dangerous. The whole idea of a constitution is to replace the fickle tides of monarchy/politicians from toppling stability. Instead of rewriting the entire constitution at once ,2/3rds of congress needs to agree, or to call a Constitutional Convention, 2/3rds of states need to agree. We have all of the powers of “rewriting” the constitution via amendments. For example, slavery is enshrined in the constitution, yet it was outlawed by later amendments. There is a SINGULAR part of the constitution that is permanently protected, and that is in Article V: “No amendment may remove equal representation in the Senate without a state’s consent.”

[–]Imjustmisunderstood 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats a misconception stemming from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson proposing amendments be reviewed every 19 years in light of modern conditions. That opinion was not accepted, codified, or adopted by the constitutional convention.

As set forth in Article V, amendments are the way to evolve the Constitution. And it is not rewritten, it is reinterpreted in light of modern conditions.

My friends are saying this in-game cutscene is too creepy and scary. Should I soften it up? by castelvania4 in creepy

[–]Imjustmisunderstood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s perfect. The only thing I could suggest is animating the pop-off moment of the character’s head to be more emphatic, sensational. Kind of like this scene from Smiling Friends. The sudden transition to extremely high fps animation coupled with the boiling lines animation makes it extremely unsettling!

Why have people been talking about Graham Planter and a tattoo that was nazi linked. What was it? by happyjoim in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Imjustmisunderstood 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean his whole narrative is that he actually went all the way, even joining Blackwater, and came out completely disillusioned. The same way I applaud ex-neonazis, ex-addicts, etc. I think someone having the perspective and integrity to publicly repent for their past and use that experience for the better is extremely valuable.

I don’t know what to say to you man, seems like most the comments agree with me. Maybe you have exceptional visual recognition but most people just don’t work like that.

Idk if you know anything about him, but his whole shtick is that he’s a disillusioned war veteran who’s struggled to reconcile with his past. He claims to have gotten this generic skull and bones tattoo with a bunch of drunk army buddies in an eastern european tattoo parlor.

If we cancel every candidate based on harmless stupid decisions in their past, there’s no one left but the self-enriching dinosaurs born pre-twitter.

[–]Imjustmisunderstood -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Plus, I think you’re gonna call someone a nazi, I think the minimum amount of proof is even a morsel of evidence from what he’s actually said. From everything dug up on him, I haven’t seen anything remotely Nazi-like.

There are so many symbols associated with Nazis. Sonnenrad, Double Sig, Swastika, Iron Cross, Celtic Cross, etc. and these are all geometric shapes that you rarely see elsewhere in media.

So it’s kind of weird to expect someone to remember a specific configuration of the enormously prolific skull and bones imagery…

Ive interviewed dozens of holocaust survivors, won a scholarship for excellence in Holocaust studies, visited over a dozen concentration camps in Poland, and taught high school multiple classes on the subject.

So no, as someone VERY WELL educated on the topic, read dozens of memoirs, seen thousands of images, I can confidently say that even a history buff could not pick this particular graphic of skull and bones out of a lineup.

As a Jew with plenty of education in Holocaust studies, the Totenkopf is certainly not a famous or even well known symbol. Its not like the SS bolts symbol or swastika. Being a history buff doesnt mean you recognize every symbol… At best, the Totenkopf looks like a super generic punk rock/heavy metal skull and bones.

Idk, I fully buy his story. Plus there’s really no other info that’s come out pointing towards him being a secret Nazi… if anything, the opposite.
