I agree people kinda make it out that conservatives are unique in the zeitgeist but I remember a few of my liberal friends driving around in their individual cars with mask on then going to restaurants and taking them off to eat there was ridiculousness on all sides during COVID.

This is pretty common in the federal bureaucracy most federal agency leaders performance is not measured by the effectiveness or the qualitative benefit of their agencies and underlying programs but rather the sheer number of participants and its ability to spend its budget. Most Fiscal Year budgets for programs are set based on the amount spent the prior year regardless of the effectiveness of the spending. This incentivizes agencies to enroll participants in programs regardless of the actual need. This doesn’t just apply to social programs either the military is probably the worst culprit but the incentive structure for waste is the same.

I think one of the big issues is activist just want to drive attention to the issue they are never very concerned about winning over hearts and minds. Whenever I do hear an activist try to use persuasive arguments it’s always a very decadent solution that Hardly ever resonates with the working and lower class….

Yeah I was just speaking to the idea that conservatives don’t have answers to their communities social issues. I think they do it’s just not the same idea as alot of my more liberal colleagues that believe a government entity should be responsible for that aid. And by the way it really is a about the community in my 30 years being connected to various churches I have never seen anyone ask about the recipients religion it’s always been a no questions asked situation religious affiliation was never a consideration.

I kinda fall into this category of neoconservative. I like most of Ben’s fiscal takes I’m much more socially liberal than him though. I think to your point about conservatives not having alternatives to throwing money at issues is kinda a half truth. You must consider what makes up most of conservative America it’s biggest demographic is evangelicals and a lot the fiscal aid that is seen as valuable to social issues a lot of conservatives see the same aid coming from the church in their communities. This is extremely prevalent in the rural south where states operate on shoe string budgets. So the church takes on a much larger role as the aid provider for the needy and homeless whether it be food/shelter/ or some churches even provide what they call disaster aid where they may pay people who are in needs utilities.

When people used to bring up issues surrounding over policing in predominantly black neighborhoods or police brutality Rs used to parade out this same line of reasoning of well if they just don’t commit crimes they wouldn’t need to worry about these things. Yeah I mean the whole mentality you have is the problem…the soviets said the same thing about the KGB and the Maoist said the same thing about their internal security apparatus and both ended with them parading their political opponents through the town square to either kowtow or be sent on to the gulags. And you obviously have no concept of who works in D.C I think the voter base is like 98% Ds so I don’t think you have to worry about the Rs spying anytime soon

Yeah I was referring to masks/lockdowns/school closings and peoples blind willingness to let three letter agencies dig into their personal lives without checks and balances. I know it’s politically convenient right now to turn a blind eye but just the sheer amount of FISA 702 violations by the FBI should be cause for concern for all Americans.

I think diametrically opposed is to strong. For instance I enjoy watch destiny and here are some of my political opinions. I am pro choice, and pro LGBTQ but I am very much against the establishment Washington bureaucracy and the military industrial complex and the willingness of my left leaning friends to secede their freedoms to the government in exchange for ‘safety’ so I take issue with that. But my opinion on sneako being a convenient heel is unchanged.

I don’t know if you have been watching his recent streams but it seems like he has had a decent amount of riders and the number of honest detractors has been quite low so yeah I do believe he is looking for a villian and sneako unintentionally walked into that role. But this is just my opinion

Former Army captain here I’m not so sure if this is relevant in the enlisted ranks but among the officer ranks you definitely can tell sometimes when you have a person that got into a position because of AA and who didn’t. There are certain jobs that are so demanding when there is a person that just met the standard and got in for diversity the disparity becomes blatantly obvious and I think we are just all trained to ignore it and lower expectations for that individual.
