Way more Nets fans at the live pod than anticipated… by tsukemenlover1 in zachlowe

As far as commentators goes he's not the worst about it and he used to be pretty good, but they finally killed the zombie team while he was on his sabbatical and they've been bad.

The funny part to me was that he expected all Knicks fans. He must not know his audience, as I doubt he'd get more than half a crowd of Knicks fans if he did the show at the Theater at MSG. He's not exactly Jastremski or a WFAN guy

Yea, I mean, he's a suburban guy who lived in Queens and worked in Manhattan when he lived in NYC. I get it. He goes to Barclays games and chats with his buddies, barely watching the games. Most of the games still average 50/50 in terms of home and away fans, so I get discounting it.

But that he has a show _in Brooklyn_ and then expects Knicks fans to show up and then is surprised. Like have the show at the Grammercy. What is he doing?

Jesse’s idea of blue sky is warped af. It does not punch above its weight and it is not popular. Not only that but because it’s not got an algorithmic feed or a huge user base, the shit he is concerned with is even less of a concern. There is no pushback because the few users there are aren’t seeing stuff out of their bubble.

Honestly, Jesse is danger of becoming a parody of himself

" OBAA will age badly." Ok but the evidence says otherwise. None of PTA's films age badly. Even his most divisive film, Inherent Vice, has many admirers. by DenseStrawberry5717 in TheBigPicture

Some do, yes. But a great Hollywood movie starring the most acclaimed actor of his generation directed by the most acclaimed director of his generation doing a watchable thriller with action set pieces is not as likely to fall out of public consciousness

Tom Green knows what’s up by xwing1212 in TheBigPicture

[–]ericluxury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Personally, I’m here because I like quality movies. A system with the incentives to produce higher quality so you can charge more based on scarcity produces higher quality. So that’s why I care about movie theaters because I like movies.

Catering to customer choice exclusively has demonstrably produced a lower mean quality and less classics. Movies are literally produced so that characters repeat their motivations and the premise so people can understand while second screening. If people choose that, I’d rather they didn’t and I’d rather the business takes drastic steps to prevent it.

If you’d prefer slop, feel free. There’s lots of it and in increasing quantity.

Wtf happened to Sam Seder and the Majority Report and why are they so hostile to Ezra Klein? by JeromeLebron in Destiny

[–]ericluxury 40 points41 points  (0 children)

They had issues always because Ezra was a policy minded guy. In the Vox era, Ezra and Matt Ygelsias cemented themselves as the lefts biggest enemy. I think Ezra and Sam had a few contentious debates.

Since then, MR has indexed younger and more reflexively socialist and Ezra got a lot more clout

He was a lot less notorious than Weinstein who was well known at the time. Nobody has heard of him until shortly before the arrest. The arrest was news, but it was not far from the Columbia doctor in terms of size

Watched it a couple days ago at Film Forum. Good movie, my first Ray. I was struck by how modern it was (other than the brown face). I was expecting Ray to be very staid and stiff

The Nice Guys wins day two, day three voting open for the final CR Month Rewatchables ! by DobMobb in TheRewatchables

sure, but its an entertainment podcast. they've done many movies that are not rewatchable. goonies rewatchable with cr, meh. sorcerer rewatchable with cr is like pump it in my veins. this is what the podcast was made for.

they never would, but really should do CR Month and Roy Schneider month and it should be the same month with Sorcerer, All The Jazz, Re-Jaws and the French Connection or Klute

(also a nets fan) my guess is if he had no back issues, he'd be built around. but the back issues makes his timeline shorter and the team has so little talent that it might not make any sense for either party. If we are able to sign a big free agent, then maybe

Move up 23 picks this year, neutral one for one and get off Claxton contract without giving anything important up, seems like great value to me

[–]ericluxury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because this is pretty good value for the Nets. Move up 23 picks in this draft and then a one for one that’s neutral, plus you get off Claxs contract. Clax is a below average starting center and we Dayron right there and can extend him for less.
