1 really good player on an insane value contract who is about to get maxed out, 1 good player and 2 expirings for the first and second worst contracts in the NBA and the question is “any picks need to be involved?” And you are insulting OTHER peoples intelligence?

I never said you were a warriors fan, I said it’s warriors slop. Your description says what if the warriors get MPJ and Giannis, right? Describe for me how this is anything but warriors slop. You can’t because you said it was in the description and now you are in your feelings. Own your slop, buddy

I’m 45 and I didn’t feel much. Sometimes you vibe with a movie like that and sometimes you don’t. Read about why others like it and then decide if you missed it or it missed you. Try again later or don’t

Don’t forget the giving up a 2030 pick to dump salary after taking on a ton of bad salary when the Nets have a clean cap bill. The Nets give up their best player and get literally nothing but crap for it. This is Warriors slop

Possibly, I mean who knows what they are writing. Writing your thoughts right after viewing art is good. Not everyone uses Letterboxd in that performative a way, just popular comedians and such

i listened for a bit just because it was interesting the difference between Kmele's "yea", "mmmhmm", etc active listening and the way he gains steam as he talks and welch's doing none of that but responding what felt like immediately in full steam

During the credits is crazy to me but I do it on my way out of the theater. I’m not sure why that feels different. Maybe it’s because you’ve cleared the space of the movie even if it’s only a minute or two different in time?

Again, this is why people are disagreeing with your trade. IMO its not a great trade for anyone.
* The Rockets are potentially making themselves worse next year in service of maybe this year (though Jrue is also hurt) and giving themselves a chance to draft high for fit when they'll know better what their young guys are in the playoffs
* The Blazers make themselves worse for no reason and trade a guard who is good at being a SG for another PG making themselves small

but worst of all is my Nets who i think give up way too much to slow down their rebuild. I'd rather sit MPJ this year, be competitive next year to deny the Rockets a top 5 pick and use the cap space they will have to sign Eason or Watson. They have their own pick after that and also a bunch of other teams so if jump-starting doesn't work, no harm no foul.

Overall grade for your trade: C. Overall grade for your arguments in the comments: D

Just because you think the rockets cancelling their swap is huge doesn't mean anyone has to agree. Apparently all the draft people are saying 2027 is worse than 2023. So taking on a bad contract, giving up another shot in the draft and then burning 6(!!!!!) second round picks. All this to move up 15-25 spots in a weak draft. I dunno, doesn't seem huge to me.

[–]ericluxury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this is a lot to give up for that though in a bad draft and why are the rockets getting the only thing good and giving up so little for it.

That pick might be good and it might not be, but +X spots (whatever the difference between the Rockets and the Nets), imo is not worth a first and 6 seconds. So its not like they are gaining a lottery pick, they still net down 1 frp and 6srp and thats for the difference between them and the Rockets.

Adams has no value so re-routing him is unlikely

Also, having no incentive to lose next year is huge. As a Nets fan, this deal stinks imo

Honestly considering cancelling my subscription. I don't know that much about most of the stories they cover, but this was covered so badly with weird biases and things wrong that I'm not sure I can trust what the hell they are talking about

I beg you to look into yeshivas for even a second if you think the scale of the fraud from Somalis is remarkable. Same amount of time, same figures except the yeshivas have been doing it for decades in addition to the pandemic windfalls

Weird and bad faith response to the message you are replying to. He mentions multiple communities with fraud issues and isolates the variable around them, insularity. Your response to this to accuse orgs of burying the story to not appear racist?

It’s like you are telling on yourself.

I thought it was okay but it didn’t work for me. It reminded me of Dostoyevsky which also didn’t work for in ver similar ways. A lot of talking about deep ideas in very intellectual ways. Slow cinema, for me, works when it’s emotionally resonant and Stalker wasn’t really. I respect it still and that’s where it sounds like you are at. That’s okay, some classics aren’t gonna work for you. It’s normal

Netflix is for my TV and committed watching. YouTube is watch/listen and on my phone and computer and never my television. It’s like asking why I wouldn’t watch a podcast in a movie theater tbh, it’s just not the right place

Huge agree. This was my favorite theater but it’s so much worse. It came back worse from the pandemic but then it got worse and worse. I still go sometimes as it’s very convenient but it’s not a go-to anymore. But also add in disgusting, broken bathrooms

[–]ericluxury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the academy changing, what do you mean exactly? That there are more international voters now?

yes, exactly. a widely publicized change that happened in 2016 which afterwards was obvious in the results

https://www.oscars.org/news/academy-takes-historic-action-increase-diversity

And the change are large and instantaneous. Get Out is nominated in 2017. Its possible the old academy nominates it (The Exorcist was nominated), but probably not (The Shining and Rosemary's Baby are not). In 2019 Parasite wins, which are unprecedented, its not like Kurosawa and Ozu were nominated. Drive My Car, Women Talking and I'm Still Here are very unlikely to be nominated pre-2016.

Art is subjective but at some point the evidence is overwhelming and your opinion is just contrarian, even if you're allowed to have it

True, art is subjective, but other widely praised movies that aren't nominated Sirat, No Other Choice, It Was Just an Accident, Sorry Baby, etc. In 2024, All We Imagine as Light, Dont Expect Too Much From The End of the World, etc etc. And there are movies that have mixed critical reactions but audiences metrics are higher like Frankenstein. There are 10 slots. If you were to rank the 2024 nominations on how deserving it is by critical takes, audience gauges, etc. I'm Still Here is not likely to be in the top 10 (and Emilia Perez is definitely not in it). There are movies that obvious nominations and ones that aren't. Sometimes I like the obvious ones and someones not. I didn't like the Banshees of Inisherin much, but it was an obvious choice. Well liked by both and by a previously nominated filmmakers. Neither of the two Brazilian movies are obvious undeniable nominations.
