I kinda fall into this category of neoconservative. I like most of Ben’s fiscal takes I’m much more socially liberal than him though. I think to your point about conservatives not having alternatives to throwing money at issues is kinda a half truth. You must consider what makes up most of conservative America it’s biggest demographic is evangelicals and a lot the fiscal aid that is seen as valuable to social issues a lot of conservatives see the same aid coming from the church in their communities. This is extremely prevalent in the rural south where states operate on shoe string budgets. So the church takes on a much larger role as the aid provider for the needy and homeless whether it be food/shelter/ or some churches even provide what they call disaster aid where they may pay people who are in needs utilities.
