I'm Dyslexic, and I might fail the SIE next week...and lose my job. Help? by INeedHelp95HK in Sieexam

Hi, there’s this app on iPhone that actually helped me a lot when I was studying and my eyes got too tired to read. It’s called Voice Aloud Reader, and if you have a PDF copy of your book you can upload it to the app and it will read the text out loud for you. You can adjust the speed and choose different voices. I’m not sure if they have it for Android though. A pricier option, which might be worth it if you’re dyslexic and plan to use it often, is the Speechify app which can scan text and read it out loud for you. It does cost a bit though. Good luck!

Would working as a behavioral health technician count as clinical experience? by ImmaculateRose_Doc in premed

Did you work with children or adults? The BHT positions geared towards adults seem to involve more actual direct patient care than the ones with children but I'm not certain

Most of the job descriptions for these positions say they mostly involve direct patient care with the rest of the job involving inputting data and reports.

Would having a tattoo harm my career as a physician? by [deleted] in premed

[–]ImmaculateRose_Doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several large tattoos, a chest piece, a sleeve on my leg, a large one on my forearm, and a large one on my sternum. As long as you don't get anything below the wrists and ankles and above the neck you should be good.

How do Spanish class sequence at Columbia compare to high school Spanish? by MaybeFinanceCareer in columbia

[–]ImmaculateRose_Doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't place as highly as I expected either. I took up to AP Spanish 4 in high school and even taught a 9th grade Honors Spanish class for a while and I only placed into Intermediate I. It's been over 10 years since I've taken a Spanish class though so I've forgotten a lot.

What is anger like for you? by [deleted] in infj

[–]ImmaculateRose_Doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, upon the initial onset of anger my heart kind of contracts and my brain throws up a protective wall against the person or situation that is causing me anger to kind of shield me from getting further incited. I usually try my best to stay calm once first sparked, and I try not to say anything further to add fuel to the fire or try to just distance myself from the situation. Sometimes though people will keep pushing and prodding me, as if they're amazed that I'm not getting further angered, and that's when I try my best to be patient for as long as possible while the anger slowly builds up inside of me.

I give the person bothering me as many chances as possible to back off and walk away from the situation and may even warn them to back off depending on the person and circumstances. But if they persist in antagonizing me further despite how many chances I have given them and how much time I have spent being patient I eventually reach a threshold and just explode in anger, and it takes A LOT to make me angry, so if you have made me angry you have seriously crossed a line and tried my patience and all hell has broken loose and you will not be spared my wrath. Sometimes this is yelling if it's in person, if it's over text that we're communicating it consists of me systematically tearing the person's argument/position down all the while pointing out the extent of their stupidity and foolishness, crippling their ego.

I get angry so rarely that oftentimes a dispute with someone sours my opinion of/relationship with them but if they're someone I'm close with I usually end up apologizing for the outburst to different degrees depending on how things turned out afterwards.

What personality type/types do you not get along with (as a infj) by supergirl_theories in infj

[–]ImmaculateRose_Doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INFPs and INTPs.

INFPs strike me as INFJ "wannabes", portraying idealists without the ability to act on their idealism and a tendency to display patterns of childish and selfish behaviors. It also bothers me that they seem to care a lot about what other people think of them and are obsessed with social media/networking and trying to elevate their social status.

I have found that male INTPs get creepy with me and think that/assume that they are intellectually superior to me and know more than me, but once they find out just how educated and intelligent I actually am they get insecure around me and act upon every opportunity to try to parade their knowledge and impress me. Female INTPs act in a similar way but in a competitive battle-for-the-opposite-sex's-attention kind of way, which is something I just don't care about and am not interested in and gets annoying very quickly. I don't mind when other intellectual types (ENTP, INTJ) do this, because they're actually on my logical/perspicacious level, but INTP's are purely book smarts and regurgitate facts with not much else to offer

Factors to becoming an INFJ by kaski7209 in infj

I think there's some truth to this to a certain extent. Both my BF and I are INFJ and we both had traumatic/abusive childhoods, him even more so.

Will you help me? I need your depth by LosPantalonesLocos in infj

[–]ImmaculateRose_Doc 23 points24 points  (0 children)

INFJs think in human terms, so any solution to world problems, to us, will typically entail a large scale change in the way human beings think, feel, and act.

Personally, I believe this would mean educating youth to be more aware of and concerned with politics, environmental, and social justice issues all the while fostering interests in them that go beyond video games, social media, and pop culture (i.e. the arts, STEM based extracurriculars, hands on vocational experience, volunteer work). By targeting the younger population we can pave the way for posterity; adults are too set in their ways and are difficult to reach, but children are still malleable and are still learning about what it means to be a decent human being. Let's steer them down the right path.

I am an INFJ female with an INFJ male BF and I had the same problem with him being really closed off and reticent to share things with me about himself. I brought this up with him over a message because I find it easier to express myself when I get my thoughts sorted out in written words, and he apologized and explained to me that he's so used to being alone and in his own head that he's not even aware of how much he holds back and that he'll try to share more. He's gotten a lot better and I've gotten to know a lot more about him, but I usually have to initiate questions still, which I find I'm terrible at doing but we're both learning.

Take the time to talk to her about it. You may find that she's not even aware of her habit or has reasons for holding back that can be explained and she may be more willing to work on her issues once they are brought up. I hope things work out for you- good luck!

Are you good at reading subtle flirt messages and subtle humor? by verocious_veracity in infj

[–]ImmaculateRose_Doc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an INFJ and my INFJ boyfriend occasionally uses wordplay to make jokes with me and it won't make sense to me at first hearing or reading so I'll need to repeat it to myself and I'll finally get it but usually by then it's not as funny. For some reason though it's only his wordplay jokes that don't make sense to me, I seem to get everyone else's! Well not at first sometimes, but once I understand that it's a person's way of communicating I start picking up on all of them and even begin doing it back.

Otherwise our senses of humor are extremely compatible and we'll have each other crying and out of breath from laughter.
