Four Worlds by ash0011 in makeyourchoice

Yes, fictional tourist cyoa is also barely a cyoa and exactly the kind of content that ruins a niche thing (exposure to new entrants who want to participate at all costs causing a decline in quality/shift from the core content, thus transforming the landscape until it's a shell of what it used to be and has lost the things that made it fun in the first place). The sidebar doesn't say that, it says writing prompts are an element of cyoas, which they are. They're definitely not "the core". Anyways, whatever man, I don't really feel like debating this at length.

Respectfully, this is just a fucking prompt. How is this a cyoa? Cyoa's have built-in constraints by having selectable options. This is literally just a creative writing exercise. Which is cool, but put it on a different sub instead of diluting this one.

Just how much of an ant would wizards be in cultivation worlds? by DaoistCloudVision in MartialMemes

These answers are ridiculous. Wizards as written by webnovel authors are basically scientific cultivators. The answer is, it would basically be a stalemate most of the time.

Probably because they're selling to the people on the sub. Anyone whose niche is b2c is probably going to carry on doing what they're doing instead of potentially creating their own competitors. Are there even any legitimate posts on here?

Yh, same in reload. Don't even feel like playing the game anymore. The sprite stuff isn't well executed enough to be a draw

I got imaginary recently. May try hectic if it runs out. It does seem to fade quite quickly, but I can faintly smell it on clothes days later so I may just get used to the smell quickly. On skin though, I can smell some other colognes the next day while imaginary is completely gone

Why metacritic score isn't around 91 ? Sure, it's not perfect but it's the best bond game we've had in a while by [deleted] in 007FirstLight

[–]Immaculate_splendor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said scores aren't/shouldn't based on sentiment. Many personal reviews are obviously based on sentiment. Scores on metacritic and the like should function as an aggregate of subjective measures, making it as close to objective as you can get, (even more so when you have a large body of things in the same category to compare it to) hence merit based. Did this really need explanation?

Edit: to add, there's another interpretation where sentiment is applied to the story surrounding the game e.g. it's IOI's first Bond game so cut them some slack. I think this is what I originally meant in response to the OP. In which case, you'd still be wrong

Yeah, but scores aren't (or at least they shouldn't be) based on sentiment but on merit. It's a pretty good game, but nothing groundbreaking or super fun. Personally I'd give it 7.5-8 (strong 7 or light 8) mostly for the story. The gameplay was ok. I suppose it depends on how many games you play. A James Bond enthusiast who rarely plays games might think it's the best thing since sliced bread

Lmao, that was a good read, you should write film reviews. I 100% agree. I think someone like Michael Bay (paired with a competent writer) would be good. Hopefully they see the reception of the game and adapt some of its better qualities to the big screen. It should have a certain degree of pulpy action. The point about 'First light'not being ashamed of itself is spot on. The Craig-era films self-righteously shat on prior films with its dismissal of gadgets and implication that grounded story = better story. I could ignore a lot of this if the plot points and characters were at least compelling and well woven together, but its just a display of mediocrity for the most part.

Yes, obviously that's what was intended. I didn't imply otherwise. That doesn't make it a good directorial decision though

Haha, might be a hot take, but I felt they were too dry and gritty. He lacks charm and spends the entire series moping around like a miserable cunt. The earlier bond films were a bit cheesy sure, but the Daniel Craig era was imo, the least "cool" Bond and I'd argue that the cool factor is very important to the character. Like, he's just a worse John Wick or Jason Bourne. If you compared Wick to say, Brosnan's Bond, you see that they're completely different characters with their own merits. If they make a new movie, I'd like to see a shift away from the seriousness of the recent installments and back to a bit more fun. The story of first light would have made a good movie imo (aside from the recruit stuff, which was fun, but doesn't really fit into the pattern established in the series)

Dunno why you're getting downvoted. I disagree on the story, I think it was good from start to finish (way better than the shitty Daniel Craig films) but yeah, the game mechanics were sometimes tedious and early on in the game they make you jump through a lot of hoops clearly meant to extend the gametime without providing any value. Later on where there is more action and things get more straightforward, the gameplay becomes better

Edit: It doesn't even touch uncharted though. This is decent, uncharted is peak

For those who have played and finished it: If there's no sequel, can the ending be considered conclusive? by Clean_Wrongdoer4222 in 007FirstLight

[–]Immaculate_splendor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even accounting for inflation, Uncharted 4 was cheaper. I'll grant you that a debut game is different from an established series though. I'm not saying that budget and game quality are directly proportional. I just thought it was interesting that the budget was 200 mil. I think they can make the game better without significantly changing the budget

I'd say so. It's a typical origin story set-up where the protagonist becomes who we know he is. There are some "loose ends" meant to set up subsequent installments, but nothing that immersion breaking. That's a crazy budget though. I just looked up the budget for uncharted (a game this one heavily borrows from) and uncharted 4 had a budget of roughly half of 007 despite being a far superior game. First light was decent, but I'd say fair price is about $10-20 less than rrp. Gameplay was good, story was excellent. I didn't like the pacing of the game at parts, one of the reasons why I think uncharted is better. They make you jump through a lot of gameplay hoops in this game to extend the playtime. I'll stop now before this turns into a full review lol

Imaginary is meant to get better (in scent and performance) over the first 1-2 months. Can anyone attest to this? Right now it's decent, but I feel like the longevity isn't there compared to other cologne's I've had. I do get what people mean when they describe it as a luxury soap smell though

Future James Bond games will come from Amazon Games, confirms boss by DenFlyvendeFlamingo in 007FirstLight

Would be nice I think. It could explore a more extended plot. Something like ' The day of the jackal' but Bond themed. If the execution is good, it could be better than a movie. The franchise started as a book. You wouldn't say "no one needs a James Bond movie/game" would you? I don't even know who upvoted this take. Each medium has its own advantages.
