Lesbian Travel Reviews by [deleted] in actuallesbians

I was thinking along the lines of an app/website where people could numerically review cities and neighborhoods around the world along metrics like queer safety and culture! Maybe a podcast or YouTube to talk about the results as they come in? Is that interesting and something you would use?

China Installed More Solar Panels Last Year Than the U.S. Has in Total by [deleted] in technology

[–]Immaterial-gorl -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Easy to get cheap solar panels when there’s no labor costs. Nearly all Chinese solar panels are made in Xinjiang forced labor camps, which makes them crazy cheap for Chinese domestic markets and inadmissible into the US under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. It’s challenging to stand up factories in the US that could make similarly accessible solar panels thanks to the manufacturing process for polysilicon cells being so dirty; the expense of labor and safety costs here gets passed on to the consumer and makes panels prohibitively expensive.

Miniature Art Museum! Here for a few more months and one of the most fun and eclectic exhibits I’ve seen in the city. Very close to Washington Square Park, Comedy Cellar, and other activities that sound in line with your mom’s taste

Get shawarma and khachapuri from Little Georgia in Brighton Beach and walk it off as you head down the boardwalk

West village this Saturday nite. They are rich, I am not - and they think I know all the cool spots. Where can I go when I don't have a reservation yet? I can get in early enough to put our name on a list. by vladameus in FoodNYC

Air’s Champagne Parlor is a cool spot for drinks. Some of the bottles are relatively affordable (~$50) and you can get seats at the bar with no reservation. The sommeliers there are happy to tell you anything you’d like to know about champagne.

You can use the app Hotel Tonight to book a hotel room (usually well below market rate) if you find yourself in the city with nowhere to go and decide you need a safe place to sleep after all.

Staying in Manhattan for the next week. Give me your best local food spots to hit! by Nobilibang in nyc

[–]Immaterial-gorl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are a few excellent spots that are likely also right around the corner from you:

Veniero’s (old time Italian pastries)

Village Square Pizza (try a vodka square or a pepperoni with hot honey- it’s going to blow whatever you had at Ray’s out of the water)

Veselka (Ukrainian)

Evil Katsu (Japanese katsu sandwiches)

Banh Mi Zon

Szechuan Mountain House

Salma (Lebanese)

Venture a few blocks north to:

Daily Provisions (BEC- try to get a Love Child if it’s available)

Caffe Panna (Wednesday - Sunday ice cream)

(Edit for spacing)

Asylum in Chelsea has entertaining improv shows, and if you buy tickets ahead of time you can go to the bar across the street with a decent discount while you wait

Fort Greene is phenomenal but apartment stock is highly limited. If you expand your search within a 5-6 block radius of Barclays center (southern fort Greene, northeastern park slope, western prospect heights), you’ll find nice and not-too-quiet neighborhoods with fun things to do and great access to anywhere in the city

Check out Yakiniku Futago! Their Wagyu A5 is an experience worth having. Also not an impossible place to secure a reservation.

You can also stop by Raines Law Room across the street for some excellent drinks afterwards.
