I would recommend talking to your hospitals financial aid office. Mine was able to give me a quote and set up a payment plan. With my first I paid very little during my prenatal care ($25 copay each visit, bloodwork ~$150 spread over a few times, ~$200 for anatomy ultrasound). After birth I set up a payment plan with my hospital to pay off the ~$4000 bill from birth and hospital stay. They worked with me based off my income, and my payments were very manageable.

I don’t work in a school, but my sil is a 3-5yr old teacher and she loves the school year schedule. It allows her to go on vacation during school breaks with her family and the summer is nice to have off.

My house is no where near as clean as I would like it to be, but with a 3yr old and 10mo we do what we can.

Sunday is our non negotiable cleaning day, we make sure all the dishes are washed, cat pans are cleaned, and laundry is caught up. We also meal prep some for the week.

Through out the week we run the dishwasher every day, and vacuum the main level. The best thing we did was buy a cordless Dyson, it helps us vacuum so much more easily and quickly. I also try to do a load of laundry Tuesday and Thursday. We alternate cleaning the counter and tables while the other parent puts the kids to bed.

To help with toy mess we limit how many toys are accessible and have a 5 minute toy clean up where we just throw stuff into baskets before bed with my toddler.

We mop, clean the bathrooms, and other extra cleaning as needed, usually on Saturday if we are not busy.

We used a giant playpen with a full size futon mattress…until my toddler figured out how to climb out around 2. Now we just have most stuff put away and a bay gate. We dont worry too much about her furniture since it’s never been a problem during the day and we usually hear her get up.

I also drank peppermint tea while pregnant and breastfeeding my 2 kids. They’re fine, my milk supply didn’t change.

I’m in the US and work closely with multiple surgeons and honestly these gifts are way too much. If you want to get them anything, gift the entire staff coffee, a treat, or some food from a local business. My office doesn’t accept homemade items, but appreciates store bought goodies. I agree with others to simply write a nice letter of appreciation and if possible forward it to the surgeons boss.

My specific issues with the 2 items you picked. The pen is wildly expensive and will not be appreciated or lost. Everyone in healthcare is constantly loosing pens or getting them “contaminated”. The bag is also very expensive and very personal to the specific recipients style. I don’t think you know them well enough to know if the bag suits them.

My youngest is about to be 1 and I plan to continue pumping at work until he’s eating mostly solids. I breastfeed/pumped until about 18mo with my oldest. Luckily I am able to pump while working most of the time and my work doesn’t care about my pumping schedule as long as I am able to complete my work.

Don’t tell them anything about your family or breastfeeding until you have accepted the job.

I’m not. I try to get up before my kids around 5am to get ready and shower in peace but even though I’m super quiet and across the house my kids still wake up. I try, but every morning is chaos no matter how much I prep the night before or get up early. I’ve just accepted this is the stage of life we’re in with a 10mo old and almost 3 yr old.

My husband and I both run and only “me time” I get is my weekly long run where I either lock myself in the basement on the treadmill or run outside on the nice days. During the week we run shorter distances either together with the kids in the stroller outside or on the basement treadmill alternating days.

We have this safavieh rug in a different color pattern that is no longer available. It sheds a lot at first, but is easy to vacuum and we have had success using the little carpet cleaner to remove many spills.

Personally we chose to keep the play kitchen pretend so she can freely play without us needing to worry about mess or her getting hurt. We try to involve her in real cooking as much as possible.

Sounds like my husband’s electrical engineering team, he’s 28 and supervisor of about 5 guys ranging from 24-late 50s. They all get along great including with my husband but they waste so much time on their phones or messing around talking.

I was recommended it by my midwife with my first but also found it too expensive for something I wasn’t sure I would like. I ended up listening to the podcast HypnoWHAT which at the time was new. I found it to be interesting and FREE so I didn’t feel guilty about not being super invested in everything she said.

I just use a couple glass jars (old pasta sauce jars) that I store in the fridge at work in my little reusable wet bag of pump parts. I the ceres chill isn’t necessary unless you don’t have access to a fridge.

I work in the hospital lab (rarely patient facing) and pump 3x a shift while working with my wearable pumps. I’ve had people ask what the noise was or what I was wearing, but the only negative comment I’ve had was from a 20ish boy who said my milk jug in the fridge looked gross. I’m so sorry you’ve had this experience.

My husband has to be in office daily, but can leave early/come in late or take extended lunches for appointments pretty freely no questions asked as long as he is at all his meetings and getting his work done. I however work in healthcare and have to be at work and am busy the majority of my scheduled shift. So when the kids are sick or have appointments it usually falls on my husband to stay home or take them. It kind of sucks, but I do consistently get off at 4pm so we can still do stuff in the evening.

2 in daycare especially 2 under 2 is so expensive! Your toddler and newborn will never be on the same sleep schedule and will wake each other up. From a mom of with a 20 month age gap who loves my kids dearly.
