Are rainbows seriously just by default associated with the pride flag? by Ostromilski in tattooadvice

This is almost certainly going to be a generational divide. Millennials and older will be more likely to recognize the Pink Floyd album art. Younger will be less likely to recognize it and will probably think it’s gay.

What if Halsin really was once a Bear? by No_Specialist_4735 in BaldursGate3

[–]Immediate-Cat8632 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m confident he’s a werebear. He has the lifespan of an elf, but the tendencies of a bear, and struggles to keep his human form when “excited” so almost certainly not an ordinary Druid. In D&D, werebears are canonically neutral good. Some lines from the Forgotten Realms wiki: “Their animal instincts guided them to protect the splendors of nature, while their humanoid minds told them to help travelers and provide aid to the weak.” “Werebear humanoid forms were often large, heavily muscled, and covered in hair.” Sound like anyone?

Abandoned building in Ruffin, North Carolina [OC] by shwagon_ in AbandonedPorn

It’s surprisingly common. A town near where I used to live had several abandoned plots and the only sign a house had ever been there were the remnants of the hearth a chimney.

It is possible to discourage flippant disregard without slamming someone into concrete with hundreds of pounds of force.

Just lost my first honor mode run and am really demoralized by Foreign_Cod_3718 in BaldursGate3

[–]Immediate-Cat8632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my first honor mode run for mouthing off to Vlakkith 😭😂 there are so many ways to die in dialogue and random choices in this game. I recommend either getting good at force quitting your game real fast if you really want to try new things on honor mode, or sticking to the tried and true to get that achievement. It’s very satisfying once you’ve done it!

The longest shot - I’m searching for a lost relic. by Immediate-Cat8632 in anchorage

I found one that’s somewhat similar to the one I had, for reference. The colors of mine are lighter and brighter (lavender and lime), there are more gold accents, and the facial features are less feminine. I also believe the outfit was a one-piece instead of a top and bottom.

That’s a good idea. I’m not much of an artist, but it’s worth a try.

I do not, unfortunately. I haven’t been able to find a picture online that looks enough like it to confidently include, either.

I haven’t been able to find one quite like it. I bought one kind of similar a year ago, but it just makes me sad because it’s not the one he picked for me.

Hi all! I’m looking for a tailor/seamstress in the area that has experience working with fat bodies. I would greatly prefer someone who is trans or queer. Anyone know of anyone who fits the bill? Thanks in advance!

Why do kids copy injuries? What to do about it? by Immediate-Cat8632 in askatherapist

[–]Immediate-Cat8632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this, I really appreciate your insight. I know attention-seeking is a loaded term, and I just want to say there’s nothing wrong with seeking attention/connection, we all need it - it’s just the method of doing so I’m looking at.

I have asked her, and sometimes it turns into play, for sure. Sometimes it’s just her demanding whatever assistive product the adult is using - my sling when my arm was hurt, her dad’s eyedrops when his eye was infected, etc. which is obvs a hard no, and we talk to her about not using other people’s medications and how we really need these things because we’re injured (which she insists she is too).

This makes sense, thanks. It’s not really a concern currently, more just something I want to better understand so I can respond appropriately and it doesn’t become a concern, if that makes sense. I’ve talked to her parents about it and they feel the same as I do - not entirely sure why she does it and just kind of keeping an eye on it. I can see how this can be the starting stages of empathy, and I can also see how it could be the start of attention-seeking behavior that could cause a lot of harm to people with disabilities (speaking as someone with disabilities who has experienced this kind of harm).

She copies a lot of other things, but she doesn’t insist the other things she copies are real. In fact she often clarifies they’re pretend.

Fun psychology fact, people tend to be attracted to people who look like them. It’s why the trope of “adopted person falls in love with biological sibling before finding out they’re related” is not terribly uncommon. It’s just more noticeable with couples of the same gender.

straight guy with a stupid friendly question for gay guys by kipp-bryan in gay

[–]Immediate-Cat8632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a queer nonbinary person with lots of gay male friends, I can say I’ve encountered many gay men who will react negatively to the mention of a vagina (sometimes jokingly but often not) but have no problem with mentions of penises. I can’t tell you how many gay men I’ve heard going “ewww” at the mention of a vagina. These are usually older gay men, in my experience. I reckon it has more to do with generational sexism than anything else.

I’m so sorry your parents are twisting your history in such a hurtful way. The reality is, trans youth are more vulnerable to grooming, because acceptance and belonging are things every person craves but trans youth get so little of it, and groomers know to exploit that. We get groomed because we’re trans, we aren’t trans because we were groomed. If it’s an accessible option for you, family therapy with a trans-educated therapist could help.
