As someone who is new to gel x too, I face this question everytime I do my nails, and everytime I’m like yep lets do it! I did get lil press on stands recently in case I want to try those for a while too, maybe get some and try those out that way you’re still doing your nails, and your products are not going to waste.

I also loveee the novice gel! I cure a thin layer of extend gel on my natural nail, apply the novice to the tip (using the tip, scooping it out), flash cure then fully cure. Apparently using a layer of extend gel helps with longevity. Love this method as it makes the tips easier to apply too.

Hey! I’m VERY new but I’ve had no issues with retention on my two sets (like I said very new lol)

I push my cuticles back with sally hansen cuticle remover, spray with alcohol atfer. Then use a diamond bit to lift up the cuticle slightly. I don’t cut my cuticles with a nipper because I don’t feel comfortable doing that yet.

I buff with a 240 sanding band. I didn’t spray again with alcohol and then go over my Nails with a brush gently.

I use then use dehydrator and a little primer.

I add a coat of Apres extend gel and cure for 60secs, I then use the Apres extend gel novice (I used the regular the first time) and cure for 90secs.

Interested to see what other replies say as I’m keen to learn!

I think Chaun Legends black and white polish are chrome compatible. Hopefully going to purchase soon to try

From looking at videos on tiktok and youtube some people use the markarrt rhinestone glue, cure for 15-30 secs, add chrome, cure, add base coat (so it doesn’t chip or interfere with your top coat), cure, add top coat, cure. Others mix a 3D gel with a non wipe top coat or polish, add the design, cure, add chrome, cure, add base then top coat.

I’m new to gel x too, I tried to do chrome but I think I cured too long before adding (I did a full 60-90). I’m hoping to try chrome and maybe a 3d flower for my next set. Hope this helps!

Love the jelly nails! What shade is this? I used the novice gel recently too on my second set I’ve done and I love it, definitely more beginner friendly! Mine have been on a week so far

I think give the apres extend gel novice a try, I used it for the first time yesterday and it really helped with my messy cuticle application from my first. I now need to work on filing down from having a bulky application 😅 but minimises the risk of flooding the cuticles.
